iPhone 12 Pro Overheating

Haven’t seen much on this yet and was curious if anyone out there with either an iPhone 12 or 12 Pro is experiencing any overheating issues. I had major overheating problems while setting up the iPhone which isn’t too out of the norm. However the overheating issues have seemed to persist since getting the phone set up. The backup is fully restored so there shouldn’t be much background activity occurring. I’m also experiencing abysmal battery life as well, along side the drastic overheating. I do tend to favor 5G On over 5G Auto as I live in an area with a pretty expansive sub6 5G network. But either way the phone is still prone to overheat under minimal load. I also have been experiencing an occasional flicker on the screen which is something I haven’t seen on any apple oled panels before. Like I said I haven’t seen many forums or posts anywhere about this issue so thought I would reach out to the community and see if anyone is experiencing anything similar!

But only using one app for less than 15 minutes (e.g. reading the news) and the device overheating to the point that it’s too hot to touch is not normal. I have been told borh by the reaeller and Apple Support that this device needs to be repaired. I suggest everyone who experience inreasonable overheating woth their iPhone 12 Pro return it to be repaired or replaced. This is surely a manufacturing error, something’s wrong with a batch of devices.

Omg that is odd. I had Waze too and deleted it.

It’s really not; Waze constantly interrogates Location Services for its position, is scanning for traffic updates, ads, other users nearby and generally uses a lot of power to do so.

It’s not usually a huge issue as most people have their phone plugged into power when using it in their vehicles.

I have the same issue ... on the iPhone 12 Pro Max 256GB - Canadian version.

  • It seems to happen while gaming Candy Crush
  • Had the phone since Nov 14 and noticed the problem a couple of days later.
  • Noticed that it is the upper half of the phone that felt very warm.
  • Noticed that it got very warm after 10-15 minutes on Candy Crush.
  • Same Candy Crush gaming did not have a problem on the old iPhone (iPhone XS Max).
  • In contact with tech support and they suggested that I manually turn off the phone and wait 10-15 minutes. Then turn it back on and see if Candy Crush produces the same problem. If so, contact them again.
  • Will report back any new developments.

So ive bought iPhone 12 Pro Max - I noticed immediately a camera issues with low quality pictures on all lenses. The microphone beside the selfie camera sounds weird when I call someone. Most importantly, overheating, it constantly overheated while using the phone with minimal apps such as iMessage or Pictures.

I then went to Apple Store, returned it and bought another one - This one had. new problems such as low brightness (itt went up to 30% then stopped) camera issues (View outside the frame wasn't working) and lots of small problems.

So I returned it a took a new one immediately - Now this third 12 Pro Max comes with new problems as well, screen wried colouring (red green when scrolling through content.) Also overheating when using the Camera app with no other. apps in the background working. (WASNT ABLE TO TURN THE FLASH ON) Low brightness also 30%. maximum. Also No View outside the frame in the camera app. And the selfie. camera mic is still sounding weird.

IM going back to return it. and get my. money back for good!

My wife and I each purchased the iPhone 12 4 days ago. Mine has been heating up under normal operation and while charging. When hot charging is slowed or delayed. Battery has also been draining faster than normal. All while hers has been acting normal. Using a digital temperature gun I have observed temperatures over 108°F with the hottest area to the right of the camera. I have also done a factory reset, wiped the phones data and reloaded, to rule out a software error yet the over heating symptoms remain.

Threatening to "make noise" in other ways won't get anyone here much.

I had just spent time on the phone with Apple Support for Overheating Issues and phone would not charge past 91% . The phone was charged to 98% when it was time to retire for the night. With all the apps swiped up and out when going to sleep, I woke up this morning only to find the battery went from 98% to 84% while sleeping for 5 1/2 hours.

They ran diagnostics on my Overheating iPhone 12. They informed me the battery was ok. They had me check a few settings and told me to switch low power mode on. I said I should not have to, seeing as I am aware I need to charge my phone when the % is low. They had me go to "settings---display & brightness--auto lock"and change it from 30 seconds to 1 minute. Power off the device and try it out, if problem persists call us back. This is just my thought, "Rename the device iPhone 13".
