iPhone 12 Pro Overheating

Haven’t seen much on this yet and was curious if anyone out there with either an iPhone 12 or 12 Pro is experiencing any overheating issues. I had major overheating problems while setting up the iPhone which isn’t too out of the norm. However the overheating issues have seemed to persist since getting the phone set up. The backup is fully restored so there shouldn’t be much background activity occurring. I’m also experiencing abysmal battery life as well, along side the drastic overheating. I do tend to favor 5G On over 5G Auto as I live in an area with a pretty expansive sub6 5G network. But either way the phone is still prone to overheat under minimal load. I also have been experiencing an occasional flicker on the screen which is something I haven’t seen on any apple oled panels before. Like I said I haven’t seen many forums or posts anywhere about this issue so thought I would reach out to the community and see if anyone is experiencing anything similar!

But only using one app for less than 15 minutes (e.g. reading the news) and the device overheating to the point that it’s too hot to touch is not normal. I have been told borh by the reaeller and Apple Support that this device needs to be repaired. I suggest everyone who experience inreasonable overheating woth their iPhone 12 Pro return it to be repaired or replaced. This is surely a manufacturing error, something’s wrong with a batch of devices.

I was experiencing the same thing! When I went to the camera app, it told me my flash is disabled because of overheating after setting up my phone. But when I’m charging my phone, the phone gets abnormally warmer then my other previous iPhones I have had which is weird. It feels like it’s going to overheat again when I’m charging it. I’m getting a replacement and I am hoping it won’t be the same issue.

My iPhone 12 Pro gets notably warm with very light use. No, not while plugged in. I am referring to regular use while not plugged into a charger. I have 5G turned off and it still does this. The moment I start using it, my fingers feel warmth radiating from the middle-left area of the phone. The right side feels cool to the touch by comparison. Again, this is with very light usage. I'm on the latest version of iOS. I had the 11 Pro before this and it did not have this issue. To be clear, it doesn't overheat, or get HOT, but notably warm. And it keeps getting warmer with every few minutes of use. Very noticeable and quite distracting to be honest.

Yes. Unfortunately, Apple missed the mark on the iPhone 12. I read the reviews before purchasing and decided to wait a year. First of all, multiple tech reviewers stated that the 5G requires a lot more power. Instead of increasing battery power and size, Apple downsized the battery, causing it to lose 10% from last year's model. The overheating is also an issue with the rear glass, which is prone to breaking (not sure if this is related to the temperature). Lastly, the magnet is very weak causing peripheral devices not to "latch on" and hold like they should. I think Apple will correct these issues with next year's model. I wanted the phone for the camera upgrades but I think I'll wait until the bugs are worked out. It's simply too much money to spend on a buggy phone with an inferior battery and an overheating problem. VERY SURPRISED that APPLE released this phone in this state but it's par for the course for 2020. Seems like a bad year for everyone.
