iPhone 12 Pro Overheating

Haven’t seen much on this yet and was curious if anyone out there with either an iPhone 12 or 12 Pro is experiencing any overheating issues. I had major overheating problems while setting up the iPhone which isn’t too out of the norm. However the overheating issues have seemed to persist since getting the phone set up. The backup is fully restored so there shouldn’t be much background activity occurring. I’m also experiencing abysmal battery life as well, along side the drastic overheating. I do tend to favor 5G On over 5G Auto as I live in an area with a pretty expansive sub6 5G network. But either way the phone is still prone to overheat under minimal load. I also have been experiencing an occasional flicker on the screen which is something I haven’t seen on any apple oled panels before. Like I said I haven’t seen many forums or posts anywhere about this issue so thought I would reach out to the community and see if anyone is experiencing anything similar!

But only using one app for less than 15 minutes (e.g. reading the news) and the device overheating to the point that it’s too hot to touch is not normal. I have been told borh by the reaeller and Apple Support that this device needs to be repaired. I suggest everyone who experience inreasonable overheating woth their iPhone 12 Pro return it to be repaired or replaced. This is surely a manufacturing error, something’s wrong with a batch of devices.

I am also looking for a remedy for this problem. My phone got so hot at my son’s graduation party, the camera froze and I couldn’t take anymore pictures. I even restarted the phone and it has the same issue. I never received an overheat warning but the phone was very hot to the touch. It’s super frustrating to pay $1,500 for a phone that doesn’t work properly. I am leaving for a trip to Yosemite and I’m afraid it’s going to happen again. 😡

Obviously you haven’t read my previous replies. I have already reported it to support, took the f”!#%% phone in to an Apple store and was give the run around regarding the issue. Nothing that they can do if the phone isn’t reporting battery problems when obviously there’s a problem. Returned the phone and the exact same issues are happening. Doesn’t sound like a small percentage to me and my experience as well as the experience of others here trying to see if they are not alone. To be told not to use this forum to help validate is a necessary process in hopes that something will be done since your approach that you’re recommending doesn’t work for us! I’m insulted that you suggest at this area of correspondence isn’t helpful because your suggestion of tech-support and tech-support isn’t helping us here. There’s a problem with this phone it keeps happening And Apple isn’t doing anything about it for reasons I have no understanding, I can only guess it’s because of Covid and they need to not have to reproduce these phones.

I am not keeping score with your replies, so you're right. I don't recall what you've done or not done. But the point remains the same. Complaining here won't get you diddly. Apple simply doesn't participate in this user to user only forum. So, complain away if that makes you feel better. Just understand it won't lead to anything via this forum.

I am not suggesting you not use this forum. When you say things like, Apple fix this or something similar, you're just shouting into the wind as Apple isn't here. So, what do you get by constantly coming here and complaining? You are ONLY communicating with other users here, whether you like the truth or not.

In terms of percentages, this forum is the worlds largest iPhone forum, hands down. If you went through this thread and counted the individual numbers of unique users posting this issue, you'd see it's not that many. When you compare that to the millions upon millions upon millions of iPhone 12 phones sold, it's statistically insignificant. Now that doesn't diminish the fact you have a genuine issue with your phone. And it doesn't mean you shouldn't seek a solution. I honestly hope you get this resolved.

I can't relate to your issue as my phone never overheats. Not once. And I own two. And there are at least 5 people in my office with iPhone 12. Not one of them has such an issue. And I know many other people with iPhone 12. Not one of them has an overheating issue. So, it comes back to the point that you need to figure out what is going on with your phone. Since this is not a universal issue, expecting Apple to somehow wave a magic wand over and issue not common to all users isn't likely going to happen.

Glad you and millions of other users are happy. Sadly there seems to be a batch of these iPhone 12 (Pro) models have a manufacturing fault. You’re lucky you didn’t end up getting one of these.

I’m surprised you’d think that I wouldn’t have been in touch directly with Apple Support. Of course I have! Already in the first days of having used this iPhone 12 Pro that I purchased! I have been in touch with Apple Support on numerous occasions since the frst week of January 2021 and I have pages of e-mails, hours of phone calls and a pile of notes related to my case number. I can tell you that the only reason I’m writing about this on this forum is that Apple has not solved this issue in my case, but instead turned back on their word to replace the device.

If you are happy with your device, that’s great. You can focus on enjoying it. Unfortunately many of us unlucky ones can’t.

**** that’s really bad news. It sounds very fishy indeed to me. Processors need to run cool that is a fact. Cooling needs to be factored into the phone design. And it is also something thoroughly tested. It can’t be a hardware issue that “escaped” testing. Not in widespread fashion I wouldn’t think…

Im really upset with mine. It’s basically an indoor phone.

Apple is really trying to fool around their customers!

If this graph climbs, only memories remains for iphone.

If nokia can perish., why can’t other brands-

we can fool around some people sometimes, But not all people always!

🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻- bad turn out from iphone,

Even i too facing extensive heating issues. ( so called normal behavior as per apple) issue on my 12 pro iphone☹️☹️
