iPhone 12 Pro Overheating

The iPhone 12 I received on the release day, it was overheating. I have my replacement now and it is working perfectly fine.

I have tested turning off 5G feature entirely and relying on 4G/LTE and things have improved for me.

Is the case a possibility? I got a "Raptic Shield" case. Seems to be running cooler without case on.

take it to the store. It definitely overheats quickly this new 12, but what you experience seems over the top.

its the signal that keeps phone hot it worked for me

So looking at my battery usage it says that 84% of it is coming from the notes app. Yikes. Obviously I am not spending hours a day using the notes widget so something is wrong there. A quick google showed others are having the same issue.

My iPhone 12 pro was heating up even with moderate use and during charging.

Currently I have disabled iPhone analytics parameters and also restricted location services to some apps...

After performing these steps heating stopped..

If you are using MagSafe apple has issued a warning that it could overhear as in some countries this is happening and peoples MagSafe cases are being burnt onto by the charger the warning is available here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211829

I returned my iPhone 12 Pro because of an overheating issue which was triggered when using the LiDAR feature. Specifically, when I launched and used the measure app from Apple. After some troubleshooting with Apple Support, the next step was to have me connect with Apple engineers. Since the phone was new of 2 days, I opted simply to return it within the 15 day return period. My iPhone had a clean install of the IOS 14, updated to the latest version and setup as new in order not to bring in what could have been corrupted data from an iCloud backup. I prefer to take the wait and see approach to understands what issues pop up in the course of the next few months...

Besides that issue, the iPhone 12 Pro was a joy to use.

So, I had a long day but it seems that the problem has been solved.

feel free to contact apple support. They will address you ok few steps to get rid of the issue.

try with a quick restart of your phone. (Quick press Vol up and release + quick press Vol down and release + keep press turn off button until you see apple logo)

that seems to be a solution. It worked for me. Is not heating anymore

I have contacted apple support, they ran diagnostics and said everything is OK. They advised to update the software to 14.2, which I did, I have been using it for about 30 minutes continuous with no issues, although even before they did this I used to have periods without the phone actually heating up.I will observe and post again.

I had the same issue. Contacted Apple support , they ran diagnostics and found everything in order. They recommended to update to 14.2 which I did. Then I switched it off for about 5 minutes. So far so good , it has been around 2 days now. Will continue to observe and see how things work out.

I posted earlier regarding some overheating when streaming youtube using the youtube app on iphone 12 pro max! It happened everytime I used youtube! I went to the app store and clicked on upgrade on youtube app!

problem resolved as I am streaming right now and it’s not overheating anymore!

This is what I am thinking. Turning off 5g helps btw. It sure feels like Apple is spending a lot of time pointing out what we might be doing wrong. Do they think we’re new to cell phones at this point? Maybe don’t roll out a device that’s not ready for consumers
