iPhone 12 Pro Wireless Charging Issues

same here. I have a 12 pro running 14.2.1. I have wireless chargers from Samsung and mophie and they both don’t charge the phone. The remedy is to reboot your iPhone, but it only works for a day or 2, then right back to square one. Hopefully it’s just a software bug.

Forgot to mention .I have also tried a fresh install of iOS 4.2.1 and reset the whole phone . Still won’t charge even without restoring the data from my old iPhone 8 . I have not got a case or a mag charger so I cannot comment if these work . I am calling apple today as I don’t want to be left with a dud phone if it is hardware .

I have also some issue with Iphone 12 pro max Qi charging :

After 5 days uses the iphone 12PMAX not charge anymore until i restart the device.

At home : 6 differents Qi charger, same issue, and the QI chargers always worked perfectly with Iphone 10 and 10 XS max.

I have both a Seneo charging pad and a stand. I have tried the suggestions provided in this discussion: optimize battery, latest OS, reboot. None of these has made a difference.

The pad works if I get the iPhone 12 Pro positioned properly. The range of proper positioning is much smaller than with the earlier models (8, XS, 11).

I experimented with the stand and I found after about a dozen attempts that if I position the phone just right, it will work. Just right means landscape mode and at a specific place. 1mm left or right would not work. The positioning was not so finicky with the other phones.

Talking to Apple support and this senior advisor said that iPhone 12 is not made to be able to charge on a Qi pad, seems wildly bad to force the mag charger especially since we have to buy separately and the leather case I bought is guaranteed to be ruined on the MagCharger.

Not sure why people keep saying about mega charger.

Here how we ripped off.

Apple: we are saving environment so we are not adding headphone and power adopter, please have old power adapter or charger. WELL FINE THEN COST OF PHONE SHOULD BE LOW. No they will not compromise in price.

OK. Then now someone is saying to solve this issue must use mega save charger. Which mean we been fooled to use existing Accessories.

before ios update i never have issue with my Wireless charger. And after update i am facing this. Obviously a software issue OR APPLE BLOCKING US OTHER PRODUCT.

now if all above ok if we have to use mega charger then when we rest phone why its work again for at least one or two days?

So yes, I told James at Apple that very fact and he went away for awhile, came back and said he was wrong but a 15 W charger will be slowed to 7.5 but of course on 3 different Qi chargers, it does not charge at all. So he put in a ticket to the engineers so will see what happens now!

UPDATE, I told the advisor it was in the specs and he went away for awhile, came back said he was wrong but a 15W will only have 7.5 output but of course it isn’t charging at all. He put in a ticket for me to the engineers so will wait to see.

That's utterly ridiculous and COMPLETELY INCORRECT. iPhone 12 is Qi Wireless capable. If it is not able to charge on a charging pad how come I have three new charging pads our iPhone 12 and 12 Pro Max charge perfectly fine with?

I have the 12 Pro Max and it does not work with either of my wireless and or my wireless car chargers wearing any of my new Spigen cases like my former XS Max would. The only way I can get any of the chargers to work is when I take the phone out of the case.

Again, I have tried different cases and they are they same style that worked with my XS Max..

I guess it COULD be the cases, but I have a thin Spigen case on my mini and it works just fine. My fiancé has a similarly thin non-spigen case on her 12 pro and it has issues. Our cases are thin, but it’s definitely not specific to all Spigen cases

Yeah, that’s crap. Qi charging is certified for the 12 Pro.

i experienced similar issues with my phone. I found another Qi certified charger that works fine for my Pro Max without rebooting g or turning off optimization or any of the other tricks. I found it on Amazon and decided to give it a try. A week in and not a single problem.

You win, Apple. Nearly 1,400 "me too"s and you still pretend it's a collective fever dream. I'll not be buying a mag-safe as they apparently scratch the cases, but I'll need to chuck out the Belkin Qi chargers (I bought through Apple Store!) and stick to cables - thanks for that!

Or, you can just get a newer Wireless Charging, like I've recommended above several times and others have already gotten, which absolutely, positively, consistently charge our phones.

I have the same issue with iPhone 12 Pro in an Otterbox Defender case. The iPhone XS in the same model case charges fine on my Atomi wireless 10W charger. IPhone 12 Pro will only charge if I remove the rubber casing. Seems the extra thickness of the rubber is enough to disrupt charging for 12 Pro.
