iPhone 12 Pro Wireless Charging Issues

I picked up the iPhone 12 Pro yesterday, and I can't get wireless charging to work properly. I have two Qi charging pads, both from different manufactures, and the 12 pro will only charge from them if it's been freshly rebooted. If I take the phone off the pad, and then place it back on the pad, it will not charge again unless I reboot the phone. The pads charge my Xs and my Galaxy S9, so they're not the problem. Anybody else having issues with wireless charging on the 12 pro?

I love it when someone who recently joined the forum with 4 points, tells someone who has been on the forum for over a decade and knows the forum managers personally, what Apple does or doesn't do here.

You are wrong. The people you hope are reading your posts are NOT here. If you want to tell Apple your thoughts where it will be heard you should do one or more of the following:

  1. Provide feedback via this link --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Call Apple
  3. Use the Contact Support button at the top of this page
  4. Schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and show them the issue you're having

Otherwise, it is you who is wrong about Apple paying attention here.

There are some major issues here. I actually returned my iPhone 12 Pro to exchange it for another one. It did make a difference on some chargers.

My first iPhone 12 Pro would not charge on any of my wireless chargers and all are Qi certified and work with the iPhone X and XS models I had before. This included two different Uniolabs wireless charging stands, one Mophie wireless charging puck and one TaoTronics desk lamp with a wireless charger built-in.

The iPhone 12 Pro I got in the exchange charges on both of the Uniolabs charging stands in both a vertical and horizontal position. It still does NOT charge on the Mophie wireless charging puck or TaoTronics lamp stand even though both are Qi certified. I've tried many different positions too.

Bottom line, Apple hasn't even acknowledged there is a problem with wireless charging. So many countless hours have been wasted by consumers to troubleshoot a brand new iPhone and its inability to do something that has been standard in the mobile phone industry for quite a while. They knew this before they released it too - make no mistake about that.

It's not the case - I've tried two different iPhone 12 Pro's (with and without the case) and the same results are there. It's not the chargers that have behaved just fine with previous models. It's not the positioning or whatever other things people have come up with on this forum.

It is the iPhone 12 and the way it was deployed with whatever configuration that doesn't fully-adhere to Qi standards.

I used to be tolerant of these things in the past but that was because of something that was radically new. This phone does not have radically new technology. MagSafe charging isn't new and whatever Apple did, they clearly knew this phone would not work with some Qi chargers. People need to open up cases with Apple technical support or else they will continue to ignore people when they say this is a systemic problem with the new phones. Hold them accountable for the phones you paid a lot of money for.

I bought the Torras case for my iPhone 12 Pro Max when I bought the phone. I had issues with my old charger, but have been problem free using a wireless charging stand made by Geekera. This charger has been referenced a few times above. It works great with this triple charger.

Heres the charger:

I was, I believe the first to recommend the Geekera. It came with an 18W QC3.0 charger and it charges iPhone at 7.5W. It's reliable, well made and solved all our charging issues. This is the link to the one I bought and have recommended here from Amazon --> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083S8418Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Wantage hasn’t seems to make any difference for me.

Various options tried without success as earlier the claim was that 5w wasn’t enough. I’ve tried Qi chargers with 5w, 10w and 20w charging bricks without success.

I have one charger in my car that works and two at home that never do since I bought iPhone 12 Pro. They still work on iPhone X.

The issue with that listing is there are three chargers on the Geekera, but they only refer to one.

One is the charger for the iPhone which is 7.5W for iPhone and 10W for other phones. One is 3W for Apple Watch. And the back charging plate is 5W for charging cases. It's simply an incomplete listing of the chargers in a triple charger.

Go by what the manufacturer presents in their product listing.

Dude......I'm trying to help people with my real experiences. Not sure what got your panties in a knot, but I'm offering options which do for many help them. What advice other than complaining are you actually offering, dude?

Rebooting for many will work.

Buying newer chargers with higher output QC3.0 bricks and dual charging plates will work.

I did both and have no issues charging at home or office.

If that's ****bent, so be it, dude........

Good observation about the wattage. That being said, I tried with my 30 watt MacBook Air adapter this morning and it seemed to work well. So Apple power supplies work with my Belkin 15W pad while the Belkin and Aukey QC3.0 power supplies do not.

If the problem turns out to be related to the design of the power supply, this is going to be a big problem for people who can’t replace them (i.e., built into their car).
