iPhone 12 Pro Wireless Charging Issues

I picked up the iPhone 12 Pro yesterday, and I can't get wireless charging to work properly. I have two Qi charging pads, both from different manufactures, and the 12 pro will only charge from them if it's been freshly rebooted. If I take the phone off the pad, and then place it back on the pad, it will not charge again unless I reboot the phone. The pads charge my Xs and my Galaxy S9, so they're not the problem. Anybody else having issues with wireless charging on the 12 pro?

I love it when someone who recently joined the forum with 4 points, tells someone who has been on the forum for over a decade and knows the forum managers personally, what Apple does or doesn't do here.

You are wrong. The people you hope are reading your posts are NOT here. If you want to tell Apple your thoughts where it will be heard you should do one or more of the following:

  1. Provide feedback via this link --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Call Apple
  3. Use the Contact Support button at the top of this page
  4. Schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and show them the issue you're having

Otherwise, it is you who is wrong about Apple paying attention here.

I did that already but they didn’t have phones to replace my iPhone 12 Pro with (all stick being reserved for new orders promised to customers who placed initial orders online).

Maybe now a few weeks later they have more stock?

I have seen some people who said they got replacement phones that resolved the issue and others where problem still existed on the replacement too.

Worth a try though. Good luck.

Update,

I purchased this PowerLot https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08F9QRBJ4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

from the list https://www.wirelesspowerconsortium.com/products

It is 15W, I used a 27W power adapter and it works well for my iPhone 12 mini. Charged from 78% to 100% in about 15 minutes. The Geekera does not work with the mini. I am hoping to find a pad so I can charge my watch and AirPods together but seem to have solved my issue...at least for now!

I'm seeing a lot of reports of iPhone 12 issues. According to the site iDrop (which seems reputable, but I still have my skepticisms due to the ads they post at the end of every article) Apple supposedly is aware of the issue, is working on it, and will probably be released via a software update. The problems are not with the Qi chargers or charging pads. It's something in the iPhone itself. Hopefully it'll be resolved in an upcoming software update soon. These reported issues are what's causing me to hold off on ordering one. That, and obviously the price of these newest smartphones.

It is definitely in the Phone's firmware......Can get it back working with a force reset that does not do anything but essentially a cntrl-alt-del on your computer......

From the Home Screen......Up volume button quick......Down volume button quick......Hold the side button until it reboots to the Apple Icon......This basically does a "force reboot and wipe "......So it un-sticks it......

Definitely going to be a fix in the IOS or bios once they figure out what is doing it......

There is a "deeper" reset......This one worked for me......So I did need or want to go farther down the rabbit hole.....

Your charger is dual charging plate?

Your charger uses a QC3.0 charging brick?

We had wireless charging issues on iPhone 12 and 12 Pro Max. Bought these chargers and have had absolutely NO issues since. Both feature dual plates and higher watt QC3.0

See these two for reference:

I have been able to get my charger working (after I had all of the above issues)

by adding some of the stick-on Rubbery/Foam to the Lip or edge of the charger where the phone sits on.

This raises it about 5mm and seems to engage the charger - so give that a try.

This would seem to indicate a charger coil positioning error !
