iPhone 12 Pro Wireless Charging Issues

I picked up the iPhone 12 Pro Max a couple weeks ago. It charged fine wirelessly until yesterday when it just stopped charging on my Anker wireless pad. Charging pad works fine on my other phone. Only thing that fixed it was rebooting my phone. So far so good.

Which brand is the Charging pad works with your 12 mini? I have been trying to find a Qi charger that works properly with the 12 mini. I am hesitant to buy the Apple MagSafe charger because of complaints of excessive heat.

I rebooted my iphone pr max 12 and it started charging for about 30 seconds then, .... stopped! I then went into the settings:

Face ID & Passcode/USB Accessories/ and switched this setting to ON. The iphone has been charging for the past 10 minutes!

Same Issue with 12 Pro (not max) Keep having to restart the phone to get wireless charging to work. Really annoying. Called Apple and sent pictures of phone not charging on 4 different chargers (including MagSafe). They said they would send it to the engineers and call me back. After two weeks of not getting a call back I decided to call back (wish I didn't). They said the engineers said to wipe the phone and restart as NEW. COME ONE APPLE!!!!!! STOP THE NONSENSE!!! I am not your beta tester or at least I am not being paid to be one. Apprently we are all your beta testers as you continue to put out products not ready to be released that have issues! Who has time to spend a day resting their phone as new and starting over. This is at least the 4th time they have given me this solution over 10+years of owning iphones. NOT DOING IT THIS TIME!! Didn't work the other 4 either.

This is true and if one took the time to read through this entire thread, one might come to the conclusion that Qi charging problems on new iPhones are a symptom of both software (iOS) and hardware (i.e., charger and case design) issues requiring various fixes which have been posted here previously. Unfortunately, helpful posts seem to get buried on this forum so the same questions and complaints are repeated endlessly.

Agreed, but I have yet to see many specific case & charger combinations that resolve this issue (until Apple resolves it with iOS). I have posted what is working for me ( CHOETECH Wireless Charger 10W with TORRAS Shockproof iPhone 12 Case, but I am not happy with the case. The Otterbox defender for iPhone 12 is what I prefer, but does not seem compatible with any wireless charger with iPhone 12 Pro. I don't see many posts specifying what case they use when it works or not, so it's not much help until they do.

Thanks, good to know. Let's keep that question relevant in our replies. My Torras case is similar in that it is thinner than Otterbox, but I have had it slide out of my shirt pocket too many times where the Otterbox would not. So we have to compromise due to the iPhone design change. Are there any wireless charger stands that will charge an iPhone 12 with Otterbox defender case?

Is anyone here successfully using an Easel-type (upright) wireless charger with with the 12 mini? I have a Samsung folding charger which works fine if I lay the phone flat and precisely in the center. But in the charger in the upright position the phone gets very hot and charges very very slowly, which means the coils are not aligned.

I'd be glad to hear from 12 mini owners using an Easel type charger successfully with the phone.

I am still having this issue, It is becoming a nuisance and making me seriously consider Samsung. I have had Apple for 20+ years and have dealt with the HAVE TO USE APPLE Cables to charge for some time, starting to get tired of it. Please advise if this will be fixed or not, our household uses Apple phones.....

I have the same problem, sometimes it works, sometimes it does not, sometimes you need to reset the phone, sometimes it just not working. MY CHARGING STATION WORKS FINE AND PERFECT WITH MY IHPONE 10XS AND 11, JUST NOT WITH 12 PRO. Apple support tried to set the blame on the qi charger, so I am to assume that this is only compatible with mag safe, not with any Qi Standart Wireless charging.

APPLE SHOULD REALLY SAY THIS PHONE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WIRELESS Qi STANDARDS AND ONLY MAGSAFE.

this will be the last apple product i buy, got some airpods pro.and has a lot of bad noise in it.

The Iphone 12 pro is a STEP BACK in making it a easy to use mobile phone.

I have two nanami fast charging docks one in my office, one in my house, and another one in my car, and I have the same problem with every one and each of them.

Its not the charging stations this is a Ipohne 12 pro PROBLEM.

Had posted after last iOS update things worked but tonight no charging until after reboot.

I have noticed that on days I really use Airplay the inability to charge occurs. I am talking 2-3 hrs streaming music from iphone 12 pro to stereo. Same happens other days I stream for a long time to my homepod.

Will monitor next time I stream Airplay for extended time.

I have the same issue. Wireless chargers at home do not work anymore.

Got a new BMW yesterday with wireless charging. Doesn’t work. (On/off charger changing colors). My iPhone 12 becomes hot as well. I wonder if it even isn’t dangerous?

I am starting to doubt if a software upgrade will fix this problem? Please Apple fix this issue.

Had a Qi charger that I used for previous IPhones and Android phones. No issues for over a year. Used it for my 12 Pro 256gig since I got it in December. Yesterday the 12 Pro stops wirelessly charging. Ordered an Apple Wireless Mag charger....nothing, won't charge wirelessly. I'm glad Apple didn't get rid of the lightning port 😅

Rebooting as I type to see what happens next. My Xs Max had no wireless charging issues. Unkillable tank of an IPhone, it still is. Most likely because it didn't have magnets in it🤔.

Update 5 min later...

Rebooted. Waited til it booted up fully, unlocked it, gave it another minute, then place apple mag charger behind my 12 pro which ALSO has the, minimalist, brown leather Apple case that is maglock blah blah compatible. "Forgive my frustration Apple as I mispronounce the product name!s"

It is charging as of the last 5 min. I will update as this issue progresses or subsides. So Far so good.

Using Apple MagSafe, at the moment, with 30W brick from MacBook😬 . The old Qi Charger worked for a time at 15W. I do have the 20W brick BTW and will only use that brick. I'll update whether the issue resolves or not.

I have the Apple 12 Pro Leather Case with MagSafe in Saddle Brown. It is charging via magSafe NOW via thunderbolt port, on my M1 MacBook AIR. The issue with wireless charging, when it started, even happened when there was NO case on IPhone.

Now using 20W brick with MagSafe on Apple MagSafe leather case ON the IPhone 12 Pro. Started charging immediately.

Time will tell. So far so good.
