iPhone 12 Pro Wireless Charging Issues

I picked up the iPhone 12 Pro yesterday, and I can't get wireless charging to work properly. I have two Qi charging pads, both from different manufactures, and the 12 pro will only charge from them if it's been freshly rebooted. If I take the phone off the pad, and then place it back on the pad, it will not charge again unless I reboot the phone. The pads charge my Xs and my Galaxy S9, so they're not the problem. Anybody else having issues with wireless charging on the 12 pro?

Bring it back and exchange it - there are many people who claim this is a software problem, but the question is why isn't all iPhone 12 Pro phones having this issue? They've sold many of these phones and you'd think there would be thousands of complaints by now online.

I did two hard resets and nothing improved. It never charged wirelessly for me. I put it on a Qi compliant Mophie puck and another Qi charger and the same thing happens. It charges for a second and then stops.

I contacted Apple support and they said to bring it back and that it was not a software bug. Not that I expect Apple to admit it but if it is not a software bug then you'll be very sorry that you did not exchange it within the warranty period. Make sure you at the very least document this with Apple Support before your exchange period expires.

You are wrong, as I bought a device that states, it is QI compatible charging. Which means it will work without defect. Nowhere does it say I must buy an Apple MagSafe charger to work wirelessly. Show me where Apple states we need to buy a dual plate charger to charge. And him expressing his frustration it perfectly legit. You don’t go buy a new car then find out the engine was used and be cool about it. You are paying a premium price for a product that states it supports it.

Hi LobsterGhost

I have been using Apply phones since 2097, and also worked in the Valley. You are correct about Apple they don’t monitor directly, but wrong about the design engineers who I know a few, and they use this feed for product improvements.  Everyone keep posting this issue, they will as always fix problems.

At least the phone does not incinerate like a previous Samsung phone did.

Another discovery I made, the old high current iPad charge won’t charge a iPhone 12 Pro from the plug. As soon as I charged to new high current, it worked. It’s a great phone, just be patient.

Yes when you violate the terms of use, your posts either gets edited or deleted. And yes, the person who did that works for Apple. But not who you think they are. They are called Forum Hosts. Their only job is to moderate the forum for violation of terms of use. They don't pass any comments here to Apple Engineering or have anything to do with what works or doesn't work for users.

So again, your posts here don't go to the parts of Apple you might hope they do.

It's rather rude to suggest I don't have good branding common sense, to be honest. I understand you think you know this forum. I know you don't. But you can believe whatever you want. I'm telling you there's one sure way to let Apple know your thoughts and that's with the Feedback Link I provided. Use it or don't. Doesn't matter to me either way.

I don't have any issues charging either our iPhone 12 or 12 Pro Max with Qi Wireless chargers. None.

Reported. But don’t fool yourself...Apple has internet monitoring software, and knows any conversation that uses their name...a very common practice by companies to help control negative feedback about their brand or products. If you think this is not a thing, research it. This software exists! Apple knows, and needs to fix this problem ASAP!

If you believe that means Apple is here, you are right and wrong. There are Forum Hosts here. Their job is to monitor the forum for violation of the Terms of Use we all had to agree to when joining the forum. They are not who you are hoping is reading anything you post, however. They don't convey sentiment to Apple or Apple Engineering. They simply modify or remove posts which violate the TOU.

It cannot be that a company like Apple which highly values customer satisfaction and customer feedback is not monitoring this forum. One of the main reasons a company creates a user forum is to garner customer feedback. The Forum Hosts may well be here to only to ensure compliance with forum T&C. However there certainly will be some way in which this forum is being monitored by Apple engineering, especially for as important a product launch as iPhone. Indeed, Apple would be imprudent not to monitor this forum for feedback.

Not the purpose of this forum to be honest. This forum is and always has been a means for users to ask other users for help with their Apple products. For many folks who no longer have warranty remaining on their products and who aren't able to get free technical support, this forum permits them to seek guidance from other users at no charge.

This is not a complaint forum. It's not a feedback forum. It's a technical support forum for users to assist other users.

Complaints and suggestions have their proper path, but that's not here.

You can believe what you like, but those of us who have been here for decades know people at Apple, have spoken to them frequently and know precisely what their policies and procedures are.

If you want to leave Apple feedback, do so here:
