iPhone 12 Pro Wireless Charging Issues

Which brand is the Charging pad works with your 12 mini? I have been trying to find a Qi charger that works properly with the 12 mini. I am hesitant to buy the Apple MagSafe charger because of complaints of excessive heat.

My Torras case is similar in that it is thinner than Otterbox, but I have had it slide out of my shirt pocket too many times where the Otterbox would not. So we have to compromise due to the iPhone design change. Are there any wireless charger stands that will charge an iPhone 12 with Otterbox defender case?

Is anyone here successfully using an Easel-type (upright) wireless charger with with the 12 mini? I have a Samsung folding charger which works fine if I lay the phone flat and precisely in the center. But in the charger in the upright position the phone gets very hot and charges very very slowly, which means the coils are not aligned.

I'd be glad to hear from 12 mini owners using an Easel type charger successfully with the phone.

I am still having this issue, It is becoming a nuisance and making me seriously consider Samsung. I have had Apple for 20+ years and have dealt with the HAVE TO USE APPLE Cables to charge for some time, starting to get tired of it. Please advise if this will be fixed or not, our household uses Apple phones.....

I have the same issue. Wireless chargers at home do not work anymore.

Got a new BMW yesterday with wireless charging. Doesn’t work. (On/off charger changing colors). My iPhone 12 becomes hot as well. I wonder if it even isn’t dangerous?

I am starting to doubt if a software upgrade will fix this problem? Please Apple fix this issue.

It's not dangerous; your phone would shut itself off long before it became hot enough to do damage.

Using Apple MagSafe, at the moment, with 30W brick from MacBook😬 . The old Qi Charger worked for a time at 15W. I do have the 20W brick BTW and will only use that brick. I'll update whether the issue resolves or not.

I have the same problem i had been on to Apple support and he had no idea what was happening. I had a Thought that the magnets in the iPhone 12 and above are messing with some wireless chargers. I hope it’s only a software problem not the phone it’s self.

I bought my iPhone 12 Pro two weeks before and the wireless charging not working about 6-7 days now I have try with different pads but no hope. The only way to work is to reboot the phone but even with that way working just once and then starts again the same. Anyone have hear anything about recall from apple for that issue?

None of the aforementioned proposals work for me. I’m discouraged that people with recently purchased phones are experiencing the issue too. Sounds like if I return my phone that I might get another defective unit. Super disappointed in this iPhone now.

I have several Qi chargers with which the iPhone 12 works perfectly.

The biggest issue is with stands or any Qi charger that assumes the device’s charging coil is in a particular position.

All my ”puck” type chargers (mine are Mophie) work without issue.

To be clear this it totally an Apple issue. I recently purchased a 12 and a 12Pro. On the same charger the 12 has inexplicably stopped charging (it charged reliably for about a month) and the 12Pro continues to charge. Apple needs to own this and fix it. This is ridiculous.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, it’s a built-in Qi charger - such a shame! I read others were having the same problem with Volvo and Volvo said they would bring out a software update to their cars which will resolve the issue??

I just bought my new honda accord this week and my XR charged just fine on it’s wireless charging tray. then i bought an iphone 12 yesterday and it won’t charge on it. apple is telling me to exchange for a new 12, but it seems like this is a common issue for cars.

does anyone have a success story of the 12 charging in the car’s wireless try successfully?

yeah, that’s my worry, that the 12 won’t work at all in my car. i have wireless carplay ,so having a wired charger kinda takes the wind out of my sails on what i thought was gonna be a cool feature on my car. i literally bought the phone four days after buying my car and my Xr had charged just fine in it. maybe i will just go back to my Xr then. lol
