iPhone 12 Pro Wireless Charging Issues

I picked up the iPhone 12 Pro yesterday, and I can't get wireless charging to work properly. I have two Qi charging pads, both from different manufactures, and the 12 pro will only charge from them if it's been freshly rebooted. If I take the phone off the pad, and then place it back on the pad, it will not charge again unless I reboot the phone. The pads charge my Xs and my Galaxy S9, so they're not the problem. Anybody else having issues with wireless charging on the 12 pro?

I love it when someone who recently joined the forum with 4 points, tells someone who has been on the forum for over a decade and knows the forum managers personally, what Apple does or doesn't do here.

You are wrong. The people you hope are reading your posts are NOT here. If you want to tell Apple your thoughts where it will be heard you should do one or more of the following:

  1. Provide feedback via this link --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Call Apple
  3. Use the Contact Support button at the top of this page
  4. Schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and show them the issue you're having

Otherwise, it is you who is wrong about Apple paying attention here.

Bring it back and exchange it - there are many people who claim this is a software problem, but the question is why isn't all iPhone 12 Pro phones having this issue? They've sold many of these phones and you'd think there would be thousands of complaints by now online.

I did two hard resets and nothing improved. It never charged wirelessly for me. I put it on a Qi compliant Mophie puck and another Qi charger and the same thing happens. It charges for a second and then stops.

I contacted Apple support and they said to bring it back and that it was not a software bug. Not that I expect Apple to admit it but if it is not a software bug then you'll be very sorry that you did not exchange it within the warranty period. Make sure you at the very least document this with Apple Support before your exchange period expires.

Don't wait for Apple to fix this. Exchange it. Verizon Wireless said it was defective and they had to order a replacement for my 12 Pro in the new blue color which is backordered. I'll still use this one until it comes in.

With Christmas approaching, delayed shipping and a current backorder on the phones I strongly suggest you start the exchange process with your carrier or the Apple Store as soon as you can. You never know what the disruptions in supply chains will do.

At the very least, open a support ticket with Apple so it is documented.

I have the same problem. My wife’s 12 Pro will not work properly on various Qi chargers around the house, even though my XS Max works perfectly on all of them. I even bought a new Anker Qi wireless charger to see if the older wireless chargers were the issue - same problemwith the 12 Pro!

Apple, please look into this. Hopefully a software patch can fix it.

I’ve spoken with Apple Support concerning this issue. They’ve documented and sent it the issue along with my phone diagnostics records to the developers at Apple. I’ll get a call back in a couple days to discuss the issue and what actions will be taken to remedy it. If you haven’t done so already and your having issues charging your iPhone 12 or 12 Pro you need to contact Apple support and start a support case.

I've just started having this problem too. My wife and I both have iPhone 12 pro's. I can put her phone on my charge pad and it will charge, but my phone will not. I can put my phone on her charge pad and my phone still won't charge. I've even tried it without a case and there is still no difference. It has been charging fine until now.

The (213) hits on me too is not encouraging....I decided not to upgrade this round then changed my mind and got ready for the IPhone 12 Pro Max. Now I think I change my mind. It’s totally superstitious but part of me is hesitant to buy anything big ticket from anywhere during a Pandemic. Ridiculous but true. Now, I feel like I have some 12 Pro intel I’ll wait to hear 12 Pro Max posts. :).
