iPhone 12 Pro Wireless Charging Issues

I picked up the iPhone 12 Pro yesterday, and I can't get wireless charging to work properly. I have two Qi charging pads, both from different manufactures, and the 12 pro will only charge from them if it's been freshly rebooted. If I take the phone off the pad, and then place it back on the pad, it will not charge again unless I reboot the phone. The pads charge my Xs and my Galaxy S9, so they're not the problem. Anybody else having issues with wireless charging on the 12 pro?

I love it when someone who recently joined the forum with 4 points, tells someone who has been on the forum for over a decade and knows the forum managers personally, what Apple does or doesn't do here.

You are wrong. The people you hope are reading your posts are NOT here. If you want to tell Apple your thoughts where it will be heard you should do one or more of the following:

  1. Provide feedback via this link --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Call Apple
  3. Use the Contact Support button at the top of this page
  4. Schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and show them the issue you're having

Otherwise, it is you who is wrong about Apple paying attention here.

I have practically the same problem but not with wireless but with the cord (ordered an original adaptor from apple store, same results. Phoned apple and did a complete restore with no luck. For me Qi charging works with no problem if I put it and take it off multiple times (I am using KKM Wireless Charger,15W Fast Wireless Charging Stand from amazon) . Have called Apple, have an appointment in store with tech tomorrow, will see. I have an iphone 12 pro 256.

Well, after talking to someone at the Apple Store and doing more testing with other QI chargers I've come to the conclusion (at least in my case) my Ubio Labs charging station is the issue. Whether its the location of the coil, wattage output or the surface area I don't know for sure. The puck chargers I have at home from tzumi and vinsic (both relatively inexpensive ones) all work (though sometimes I had to adjust the phone's placement to find the sweet spot).

As for my Tiguan, once I positioned the phone as far in and to the left as I could, it's been charging fine without issue.

Hope this helps, but I agree with the comments made here that there should have been more testing done by Apple. This many folks experiencing the same issues is a definite red flag.

I’ve just been on with Apple support. I am now solved but it appears that one of the two wireless chargers in the house was through a USB adapter to the mains and wasn’t giving enough power to charge this phone even though it would do older iPhones. The other that was by the same manufacturer but connected direct to mains works fine. Could be worth checking if your chargers are using a connection with enough power output for this phone

You don't need 12W via wireless. My phone charges just fine on one of our other wireless chargers at 7.5W using Qi protocol. It's not as fast as using the 20W adapter with the provided cable but it's not slow. However, it will not charge on my Mophie charging puck which is Qi compatible.

Apple was really sloppy here - this wasn't tested well at all. There are a lot of chargers that aren't working and some that do.

Apple is probably the worst company in the world in terms short service life and ending backwards compatibility at will with their iOS, OSX, bluetooth device compatibility, etc. This is starting to force people to upgrade everything they have (including even cars) if they want the features to work they way they are supposed to.

Same issue here with an iPhone 12 and a cygnett wireless pad. Works on my XR and wife’s 11 fine. No trouble with my AirPods either. It connects to the wireless pad ok but stops charging after anywhere from 10 to 45 seconds. Raised a call with Apple who booked me into see a technician. The technician (looked like a school kid) told me it was charging fine (using my wireless charger) and there was nothing wrong with it. Got back to work and plugged in and still not working...thanks for nothing Mr Technician.

Updated to iOS 14.2 today in the hope that it would be resolved by that.... no change. Still connects ok but stops after 20 odd seconds stop charging.
