iPhone 12 Pro Wireless Charging Issues

Same thing here on iPhone 12 pro and Anker charging pad. Worked fine for a week then nothing. Pad works fine with iPhone XS. After restart, the 12 works again. This points the finger directly to software.

I have an iPhone 12 pro, and it charges via my Belkin valet QI charger but it will not charge on my mophie wireless QI. It starts to charge, and then stop super infuriating. This tells me it’s not missing the wireless charging protocol, but the charger or phone isn’t compatible. I’m not sure why though.

Yeah, definitely exchange the phone. If the same thing happens then it's up to you if you want to keep the iPhone 12 or not.

They claimed Qi compatibility. If it truly isn't then they need to provide a wireless charger to compensate. They didn't even provide a charging brick and unless you have a recent iPad or MacBook Pro then you don't have that USB-C brick.

Apple makes some great products but they have been caught doing some very shady things.

You have to “officially” report it by contacting Apple Support using the link at the top of this page. And everyone else with the problem should do the same. That is how issues get logged.

I have this problem and I exchanged the phone and same issue. No way is it hardware. If I move the phone ever so slightly I get it to come in then a minute later it’s off. Case or no case. Again I exchanged my phone and I still have the problem

You don't need 12W via wireless. My phone charges just fine on one of our other wireless chargers at 7.5W using Qi protocol. It's not as fast as using the 20W adapter with the provided cable but it's not slow. However, it will not charge on my Mophie charging puck which is Qi compatible.

Apple was really sloppy here - this wasn't tested well at all. There are a lot of chargers that aren't working and some that do.

Apple is probably the worst company in the world in terms short service life and ending backwards compatibility at will with their iOS, OSX, bluetooth device compatibility, etc. This is starting to force people to upgrade everything they have (including even cars) if they want the features to work they way they are supposed to.

Experiencing the wireless charge issue. Purchased 2 iPhone 12 Pro units. 1 Blue and 1 Black. Both 128gb. They arrived with iOS 14.1 installed and both charged without issue. Upgraded to iOS 14.2 and now the unit in Blue will not charge via wireless. Black unit is charging, on the same wireless chargers, without issue. Don’t know if the iOS upgrade had anything to do with the problem. Based upon the number of replies to this issue it looks like Apple needs to communicate a response.

I’m convinced the phone is wirelessly charging, but the software just isn’t recognizing it. Take a look at my battery health over the last 24 hours:

It has remained at 72% all day despite heavy use on and off the charger. If the MagSafe charger wasn’t working, my phone would have died hours ago.

Same issue with the 12 pro (tested with x3 12 pro's), using QC3.0 bricks, 6 different qi chargers tested so far - all different manufacturers & all working on xr, xs & 11 models, software is up to date at 14.2. None will charge the 12 pro. Force restart does not resolve as it has for others, it won't even charge temporarily. All of the chargers will recognize a phone has been placed on them but none will charge the device.

Certainly hoping for a software fix.

Why would people care about it? The chargers, many of them "QI and MFI certified" and sold at Apple stores, such as Mophie 3 in 1 stand, do not work more than 20 mins when the phone is in MagSafe case or not work at all with iPhone 12.

From the consumer perspective, Apple has introduced a phone that has severe limitations working with standard QI chargers. Some work, some don't. Wasn't an issue with previous Apple phones.

I have a charging stand that works fine with iPhone 8, XS and 11. It does not work with the new iPhone 12 Pro that I picked up earlier today.

Interestingly, the iPhone 12 Pro did work with a charging pad from the same vendor. This makes me suspect something in the positioning of the coils in the iPhone 12 Pro as compared with the other phones.

Please name a few.
