iPhone 12 pro not charging with MagSafe charger
The magnet works fine but nothing happens. No charge. Why won’t MagSafe charger work with brand new iPhone 12 Pro?

Hi papijam23,
Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having some issues charging your iPhone 12 Pro using the MagSafe charger. There are some great instructions here:
How to use your MagSafe Charger with iPhone 12 models
Is there another charger and power source to try? If so, does this only happen with the MagSafe charger? Try the applicable steps from If your iPhone or iPod touch won't charge, then test for the issue again.
Have a great day!
Here’s what finally worked for me (after changing cords & charger units, hard restarts, upgrading iOS to 14.3 and Apple Tech Support remote diagnostics/repair could not):
Apple ENGINEERS remoted in to my iPhone 12 Pro and did a more detailed Diagnostics & Repair then I did a Hard Restart WHILE PHONE WAS ATTACHED TO THE MagSafe Charger.
That did it! 5 nights later still working fine. If it happens again I’m just going to do the hard restart while it is already attached to the MagSafe Charger.

Tbh, this happened with my iPhone 12 Pro Max, just power cycle/restart your phone when this happens.
I had this issue as well. Probably way late, but I contacted support and they shipped me another one. Hopefully this new one doesn't die on me either.
I had the same problem and restarted my phone- fixed
I’m the same, it happened when I first got the iPhone and I thought it was the charger so got a replacement. I then found out I needed to reboot the phone to fix the problem which I did and it started working. But even after the 14.2 update it’s happened again and I’ve got to reboot the phone again! Not really a long term fix is it!?
I just plugged into the MacBook pro and all worked well with the charger. I am thinking that I need to go right into the wall rather than using a fancy USB power adapter that I plug into. I did use the volume button solution that was proposed in this discussion as well, so this may have been part of the fix as well. Thank you for the help!
The recent update (14.2) has solved this problem for me.
All problems will be fixed by restarting the iPhone
I too have this problem. In my web search, I found that the newest iOS has a fix for some that won’t do wireless charging. I am updating now. Hope it solves the issue. My air pods pro charge just fine on the MagSafe. I have 2 MagSafe chargers. One also for my wife’s new 12 Pro when it arrives. Neither one would work with my 12 pro. Both will charge the air pods.
Hello, just following up again from my previous posts. So after the initial success of
the phone is now continuously charger all the way to 100% with no issues
this is a follow up from my previous posts. Apple has a setting in “Settings-battery-battery health-optimized battery charging, this is used to reduced the aging of the battery life (which is a good thing!)which may be preventing the battery from fully charging depending on your usage preference and also the MacSafe Charger has a safety mechanism (as stated on the Apples website “how to use the MacSafe Charger”) which prevents the over heating of the battery during the use by charging at only 80% max capacity during certain times.
My MagSafe Charger stopped working suddenly on 12 Pro two months after purchase, worked great up until then. Lightning still works fine. Rebooting phone - no effect. Even when battery at or below 20% & cold it would not work. Taking the "MagSafe Apple Case" off - no effect. Upgrading from 14.1 to 14.3 - no effect. Apple Tech Support remoted in to my iPhone and did real time Diagnostic Evaluation. "Normal" w/o any problems in charging hardware. They told me the MagSafe Charger itself was malfunctioning & recommended new charger. OK, so I got a new one today. Behavior on ALL above accounts is completely unchanged. Back on w/Tech Support for another remote Diagnostic Evaluation. MagSafe Hardware is apparently "Normal" again. WTF?? I also feel this is a product malfunction and will be replacing the phone as I much prefer the ease of use of wireless charging.
Same problem here. My 12 pro max would charge fine on two different MagSafe charger. Two days later it would stop charging. Magnet works fine, no charge. Regardless if the case is on. I reboot the phone and it works fine. A day or two later it stops charging. Is this a wide spread issue?
