iPhone 12 battery drain overnight

Well, I’m glad that’s helped your battery life, but isn’t your solution like buying a Bentley and only being able to drive it at 20 miles per hour?

We’ve all paid a premium price for a luxury product. The product should work to spec.

I’m not happy yes, but we don’t have 5G in our ciuntry tet and 4G us not available in my premise also. Therefore 3G is solution for me. But I’m not happy with that. I’m still waiting for solution from Apple.

Service has checked battery twice, and as it is in city, they used it ciuple of days and without battery drain.

How can the fact you don't have 4G or 5G service be an issue you are waiting for Apple to resolve? When you have your phone set on a cellular service your phone can't access, this is the issue you have with battery drain. Apple has nothing to do with the cellular service available in your country. That's why Apple gives you the option to change the service your phone connects to via the settings on the phone.

Many people on this thread have speculated that there must be a correlation between the battery drain issue and the new iphone 12 line’s connectivity.

We have obviously not changed countries, but yet our brand new iphones have a huge battery drain issue that is somehow improved when u downgrade from LTE to 3G or sleep with flight mode.

i too believe there is something with the connectivity, obviously with the new 5G technology something may have gone wrong and we’ll see whether this can be resolved or not.

i’ve been sleeping with flight mode on for anyone interested, and my battery drain went from 15-20% to just 5% so i guess that’s something.

Haven't read all the messages on this thread but wonder if anyone has got to the bottom of this. Normally my iPhone 12 would drop 5% on average every night when sitting in low power mode. Last couple nights it has dropped by around 30%. Weird that it's happened all of a sudden as I haven't been doing anything any different.

Yes. Same problem here. I got a iPhone 12 and I have been using it for one month now. One day back I noticed an abnormal drain of my battery that it drained from 30% to 0% and shut down within 6 hours in idle mood overnight. I had turned off mobile data and WiFi as well and had no activity at all. Hope Apple will sort this issue out soon.

I think,i've a solution. Yesterday, just turned LTE to 3G and for the whole night ( about 8 hours ) the battery drops only with 5% I think this is OK,before that the battery drain even with cellular turned off was about 30 to 40%

I read all the messages and what helped is from 4G to 3G. When is 3G battery drain between 0 - 3% . If the battery is 100% when do not drain and when it is 99-98 when drain between 5-7% . When the phone is 4G the battery drain 18%. Мy previous phone (iphone7) did not have such problems. I hope Apple will done this problem.

Same story on my Iphone 12.

First night - all fine

2nd night - 30% drop

3d night - all fine again

4th night - 20% drop

Everything is turned off and all apps are closed in background.

This is probably some IOS bug.

My old iphone XS doesn't have this issue and runs the same IOS 14.3

I checked again. Even though I do only have the option to toggle between 5G On, 5G Auto and LTE, yesterday I noticed that when I am on 5G Auto, which seems to basically be the automatic mode for not only 5G but every other type of connection too, my phone briefly was connected to 3G instead of going to LTE, like it does all the time when the LTE option was selected.

I don't have a 5G contract, so switching to anything but LTE seemed unreasonable, but now after finding out what it means exactly, 5G Auto is the way to go (If there is no other standalone 3G option, of course)

Ok, I understand what you mean. Airplane mode “fix” my issue as well but it’s not the solution. I need to bee reachable at night if my children wants to get hold of me for example. And if there is a high standby drain at night when my phone is in standby mode there is a standbydrain at day when I use my phone that makes my battery last less time. I really hope there is a fix for this soon

Same problem here!! So angry. New iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 11 XS Max both were fine until I updated them to 14.3 for Fitness+. Now neither phone or watches stay charged. I have shut off all background apps and deleted the music app. This is bullshit!

If you're charging your phone at night, how can the battery be draining at the same time?

I charge my phone and watch both to 100%, remove from the charger and it instantly starts to lose massive amounts of charge, like 15-20% every 20 minutes. It is 100% due to the recent update. Everything was fine until I updated for Fitness+. If you haven't done it, don't comment. Thanks

However, that isn't what QuickTimeKirk was suggesting. He was suggesting that you simply leave the phone on the charger overnight. The subject of this thread was battery drain overnight, not instant battery drain. Additionally, this thread and his reply are from the beginning of November, well before Fitness+ was released.

Yes, I have Fitness+ installed. No, I don't have "massive" battery drain. And no, you don't get to dictate who posts and who doesn't.

I would suggest you start your own thread as your problem appears to be different than the original poster's.
