iPhone 7 lagging when unlocking

Wondering if any iPhone 7 users have experienced this issue whereby the phone will lag and become very sluggish when unlocking the phone. This issue arrived when I updated to iOS 14 and I didn’t have this problem in iOS 13. After unlocking , the animations will turn off and opening apps, scrolling through your apps will be really really laggy. After about 10 second when the unlock icon at the top of the screen disappears, then everything run as usual. Please respond if anyone have faced this issue before.

Just adding my voice to the thread, had this infuriating issue on iPhone 7 since iOS 14 launched.

As someone earlier in the thread pointed out, it does seem (at least in my case) to be related to pushing the button to wake up the phone. This appears to not wake up the CPU correctly leading to a period of intense lag.

Enabling "Wake on Raise" and then raising the phone to wake it, before unlocking the phone via Touch ID works perfectly. It's important to note that pushing the button to wake still causes lag. You must raise the phone to wake it.

An awful workaround, but since Apple doesn't seem to care about the issue, it will have to do.

My guess is that there is some background activity going on when the display is off and when we try to unlock the iPhone this activity has to be stopped or paused and it needs some time to do so since it’s a heavy resource demanding activity. I have no idea what kind of process it could be though and mine is just a guess...

No it's not, just with this they push you to buy new iphone. Like before with slowing done old phones so people go and buy newer iphones, I think this problem is not fixed intentionally so you will be forced to go and buy newer one, but if they dont fix this bug, that is it. And ofc I will switch from iphone, apple watch, cancel all subscriptions and switch to android (probably samsung cos of their ecosystem), cos I don't want to buy another iphone like SE 2020 or 12 mini and after 3 years to have the same frustrating problem like now.

I remember when apple said ios is fluid and stable compared to android, but i have had android for over 10 years and ios for 5-6 years and sonetimes I use both at the same time, no mater how much people say that android is less stable and not fluid, I never had this problem with any of androids, but with ios theres always something, battery drain, lag, connectivity problems, etc. And they are making one software for one phone, android making one software for 10000 different phones, and doing much better job than ios... This problem will probably stay until we get ios 15 if iphone7 gets it.. but I'm not waiting ios15, probably few updates more if they dobt fix it just sell it and switch to android...

When you run programs that use navigation, this bug is most noticeable. The phone starts to dull terribly when unlocking. By the way, I have a second Iphone 7, it doesn't have such problems. And it keeps applications in memory too well. So there are different components inside? Apple, you have already released 3 firmware, but the problem remains, solve this issue. I don't want to buy a new phone, this one suits me.
