iPhone 7 lagging when unlocking

I have the exact same problem, but not just on a 6s or 7. it does happen on my iPhone 8 as well. When it happens I see 100% cpu usage and after some

time it stops lagging.

When I use the same backup on an iPhone X or newer, there are never any lags after unlocking the phone.

it must be a bug in ios 14 with touch ID, cause I never had such lags on older ios versions.

Please Apple fix this problem. It‘s still there in 14.4. and it is very annoying

I was suffering alot by this issue.!

whenever i wanted to start my phone for a urgent call or camera, it slows down with lagging animations.

I updated to latest IOS and turn the feature Raise to wake on .!

We all know this bro ! Once you disable touch id or don’t unlock with it, the lag will never happen.

Some guys suggested this workaround in early comments but for me this is not a solution. I bought a phone with touchid technology to use it not to disable it because lazy software engineers can’t figure it.

I found something interesting. I turned on the sound recognition feature (to prevent the iphone from going into deep sleep mode), it worked prefectly, not even a single lag, even in the silent mode, hope it helps.

A few hours only, but I am pretty sure that the issue is fixed. So far I could always reproduce the issue immediately after each iOS updates, iOS 14.5.1 is the first version where I see no lag at all. I have tried 70-80 times in the past few hours, and it works perfectly for me.

I have just updated to iOS 14.5 and it looks like the lag is fixed. Gotta see how it behaves in the next couple of days.

Actually, mines jumpy again. Try turning off background app refresh. That slowed the lag down 4 me.

The only working way in our problem is to disable Today View in the Touch ID & Passcode menu settings.

I have disabled the vibration in accessibility "touch" and "vibration" I have disabled that and update to ios 14.5.1 and it seems to have been fixed.

I didn’t disable the vibration and I immediately update to 14.5.1 and it also seems to be fixed.

i guess issue resolved in 14.5 version itself... as not seeing lagging after upgrade. Anyway will upgrade to 14.5.1 as well !!!

This method didn't solve the issue for me.

However, I found a workaround that helps in most of the cases. Go to Settings --> Display and Brightness, then turn on Raise to Wake. This way, every time you raise the phone from your desk, the screen will turn on, you only need to touch the home button, and there should be no lagging.

My suggestion was to turn ON Raise to Wake. When turned on, you don't need to press the Home button to unlock, it is enough to touch the Home button, because the screen will be on if the phone is raised from your desk. Of course Rest Finger To Open in Accessibility > Home Button needs be be turned ON as well.

This method only works if you raise your phone before unlocking. For me the issue is still there when the phone is in my hands, and unlocking it with pressing Home button and using Touch ID.

On iOS 14.3, after turning off the automatic screen brightness, the phone lags much less. But there is still a problem. In IOS 14.4 with automatic brightness control turned off, I have not noticed these lags yet. I will test further.
