iPhone 12 screen brightness issue

My iphone 12 pro brightness is inconsistent. Its dims or gets darker screen when its at max and after i sleep my screen and wake it again, it gets much much brighter.

As if it was on 25%. Its seems to me like a lag or something of the sort happens to the screen. Any suggestions?

Hi all!

Just check that you've switched off the Auto-Brightness feature (please don't confuse with Settings->Display & Brightness->Automatic !).

You need to switch off these features here:

1) Settings -> Accessibility -> Display & Text Size -> Auto-Brightness

2) Settings -> Accessibility -> Display & Text Size -> Reduce White Point

(frankly speaking, turn off all features in the Display & Text Size).

The iPhone 12 Pro's display is amazing in compare to iPhone 11 Pro.

Cheers 🙌

Oh my goodness. I am so sorry! Please know, we all have technical issues because of equipment failure. We all spend hours trying to fix it. Because you're "an old lady," this is especially difficult and frustrating making it even more of a travesty. But it isn't because of you by any means. I wish you the best with the replacement!

I think all of us posting agree that we are not doing anything to cause a problem. There are all kinds of different scenarios of when the screen darken issue occurs. It is not one thing however a large proportion also experiences a hot phone. We ALL are having screen problems and poor customer service experiences, at least to start. As this becomes more widely "known" amongst the service reps then service will improve and hopefully to the point of a REAL solution and/or compensation. I feel Apple relies on their reputation to charge such high pricing for phones and do not want to ruin that which will remain forever as a mark on their name.

If it is not something that can be fixed then one thought could be a trade-in on the next phone issued of the same caliber with a restart of the AppleCare as day one upon trade-in. That would be a resolution I could live with. I saved for YEARS to get this faulty product.

Guys Apple removed my rant about class action suit against Apple for iPhone 12 dimming issue .. ok I am only saying that cause I went to the Apple store twice and they will not replace the phone . I have an appointment this Tuesday 3rd time to hope to resolve the issue . I’ll post the outcome soon after .. If they can not fix the problem there needs to be some solution . What do you guys think is a fair solution to this horrible problem?

I’m relieved to know it’s not just me! This afternoon I was parked in my car and the screen was so dark I had to hold it at my ankles, under my steering wheel just to get the information I needed. I’m actually pretty angry about it because it’s I’m an apple girl and can’t imagine using anything but…. but man I’m going to have to. I just can’t believe a focus group didn’t point it out!

snd a matte screen would help. When I it’s sunny and the screen is ridiculously dark it still manages to obstruct any chance of a view with the glare. Wow, “hearing” myself detail the hassle I’ve gotta jump to a to something else. But how do you incorporate a non-iOS phone with a house full of iOS devices? MP3 vs mp4??? I’m having heart palpitations.

I can’t believe they tested this phone for heat AND decided to release it this way regardless.

I keep wondering whether the A14 processor runs too hot for this phone and poor heat dissipation. I can’t imagine any other way than Apple throttling the processor speed down to keep it cooler. That’s also gonna be an issue from a legal standpoint.
