iPhone 12 screen brightness issue

As a registered disabled Veteran-person with hearing loss and vision impairment, I had trouble with auto-settings, but experienced a bit of improvement from the latest upgrade after posting a complaint per: twitter. My issue is with uncontrollable auto-dimming and uncontrollable auto-volume warnings as a disabled client. Otherwise, I am happy with everything else about my iphone12pro. It helps me keep track of so much with all its "bells & whistles" for organizational purposes. Vocalizing the issue publicly is also to make mention of others who might have the same difficulty in relation to one's personal state-of-health. Thank you for having a means of passing along customer responses. Maintaining control over automation is a true concern for some of us over others. Personally, I just can't have power over sensory control settings taken from me - to remain satisfied. I hope work continues to improve all the time with apple products.

I’m having the same issues! All my settings in display and even accessibility are correctly set yet my phone still goes dim whenever it wants to AND get really hot!!! I’m not sure why it’s having this issue!!

I have tried everything and nothing works, it’s a hardware defect, I don’t think it can be fixed, it sucks cause I fly my drone with this phone and I’m outside in the sun most of the time, hard to see when it happens, so now I have an expensive drone I can’t fly cause of this defect

Bull crap Michael in the above comment. U think we are tards?? That’s the first thing I turn off when I get any phone!! There is a glitch so shut yo mouth. U can apologize after apple mans up and addresses this issue

And sorry, I know this doesn’t solve anything lol. We fly drones outside in sunny day. I guess just have to somehow keep the phone cool, maybe in the shade.. or just have to prepare fly the drone back blindly after 20 min lol

Hmmmm, interesting, well thanks dude, finally I can try to do something about it. I found this on Amazon, I guess we will just have to put this on while flying, it looks like there’s ways to clamp it on while it’s on the DJI remote, hope it at least keeps it cool during flights. I’ll let you know if it works, will reply back soon, thanks

same thing happening to me! i’m trying to see if anyone knows how to fix it. my screen brightness will be up and then when i “wake the screen up” after the screen is off the brightness is all the way down and i can barely see the screen in order to increase the brightness.

Its happening to me too. When i am in the sun and i set the display to Max menue-ly it still darker and cant see the screen properly. Is that problem fixed for you. Kindly let me know if u had figured it out thanks

Is anyone experiencing this issue with a 12 mini? I’ve about had it and it’s only been 5 days with the new phone (12 pro).

i’m thinking of exchanging it for a 12 mini at t-mobile for a small $35 fee.

I can con confirm the same exact issue happens side by side with my retired iPhone 7.

it sorta down brightness under the sun in 3 distinct steps. Almost at the same time as the 12 does.

Great point jprice also I noticed with the magsafe charger it seems to get a little hotter. Easy fix though, just hold phone out window while charging while driving in car and in the refrigerator with the door ajar so it doesn't build moisture while at home

Same issue as all of you are reporting. One of you said the phone typically does this when the temps are about 90 degrees... (Most recent experience with the dark screen and overheating was in temps about 93)... Well, My BIG concern is I'm traveling to Egypt in 9 days -- Temps will always be above 90, sometimes over 100 in Luxor. I take all my pics on my phone. I will be heartbroken if I am not able to take pictures on my once-in-a-lifetime trip. Will talk to Best Buy tomorrow, but Apple didn't offer any advice except re-starting it (I tried that, and it didn't make any difference)... Can anyone give me assurance that I can take pics in Egypt's heat??? Any advice on things that have worked to prevent the overheating (I've got it in airplane mode and all apps closed), and the screen from darkening/?

I’m in Arizona, and now that it’s summer , I usually get about 10 minutes of flying my drone before it starts gradually getting darker to the point I can’t fly….I would bring a backup camera….good luck

Screen dims on it's own and does not respond to disable of this feature I have spent HOURS on the phone with customer support of this issue and zero resolution and customer support has closed the case over and over.

I saved and bought this size phone for vision problems and it randomly keeps dimming while in use for ZERO apparent reason to me making it unusable. I returned to apple product from samsung for THIS phone and SO DISAPPOINTED to get an expensive piece of unusable technology. It does this inside my home under day conditions without direct sunlight but becomes worst using it outside the home as I RARELY do. Maybe once a week? For google maps. I spend 1-2 hours with phone max per day usually INSIDE air conditioned home. And I am NOT using it in warm/hot conditions although I am in Texas. Today was 69 degrees. I did feedback from the link

How is the phone being exposed to near human body temps (98.6) causing an issue?! Certainly they created a phone knowing many people carry the phone against their body - although as a sick old lady I carry in my purse and I am RARELY out where it is hot.
