My iPhone 12 keeps asking for email password

I am having this same issue on my iPhone 12 Pro Max and on my Intel iMac and my new Silicone MacBook Air I am not sure if it is a change in security or something but it is getting annoying. It also only happens to the hotmail emails, none of my other accounts like gmail, business account or even student email is having this issue.

Tell us how to fix this. My old IPhone 8 my IPad and my IPhone 12 are all updated to the latest iOS and I get prompts to enter my password every 30 to 40 min on all 3 devices. This has been going on for months. Extremely frustrating

Experiencing the same issues, and it is with all of my email accounts. Gmail, MS, etc. so it is DEFINITELY an iOS problem. Hoping Apple releases a patch soon because this is turning into a real headache.

I don’t know who is at fault Apple or Microsoft. Is it my fault I can’t understand Chinese or is it the Chinese man’s fault who doesn’t understand English if we try to talk to each other?

It appears to be something that has changed with IOS 14 as I never had this problem before the update and old IPad without update works fine. Although this strongly suggests that it is an Apple problem to fix I doubt they are going to go back to 13 and may not be able to solve it in 14, it may need a fix at Microsoft’s end.

What I do know is that there are too many red herrings in these replies.

If it’s due to Outlook server how can I still get my emails if I use the Outlook app?

Why are people saying my pc is fine so it must be IOS, your pc doesn’t use IOS mail it uses Microsoft software so that proves nothing.

Apple and Microsoft need to talk to each other but if Apple are hurting due to this problem I’m guessing Microsoft are just going to be laughing not talking.

So sorry -I think it must be so random that whatever you do, it’s going to be coincidental if you don’t get asked for again for a few days or not!

Same issue… Phone keeps asking me to re-enter my password for outlook/Hotmail. Activated the iPhone 12 on the first day available and this is happened about once every week since. Sometimes once or twice during a day.

Same thing happens with my wife’s iPhone 12 max.

Has this been fixed? I gave up entering pw and have just been using Outlook app for last couple of days, just checked mail app and it seems to be working, and when I looked in settings where it normally ask you to re-enter password it just had account name as it should.

I think something was done . It stopped for me now. Been good 3,4 days without putting passwords on either of devices.

nothing to do with deleting accounts and all that stuff. That never fixed anything. It is just a coincidence but nothing to do with what we do.

I’m the same as a few other posters now, I’ve done nothing but the issue seems to have stopped, I’ve been free of it for a few days now. Fingers crossed something was done but they’re not making a public thing of it...?

Got the same problem on my iphone 7 and ipad. Have to enter passwords for two Mail accounts almost every day.

Only the Mail App from Apple is affected, not the outlook app. How can this not be an iOS issue.

You probably read about a server Issue Microsoft had regarding Mail traffic. This was fixed in one day.

I hope apple will fix this soon! Starting to annoy me!

The issue has seemed to (finally!!) resolved itself, as I haven't had to enter my pw for about a week now. Still running 14.2, so it isn't to do with the latest iOS 14.3 update.

Hope others have their issues resolved soon too!

My phone stopped asking when I’m using Hotmail address but when using my work email hosted by EarthLink I get a warning say cannot send mail because my outlook password is wrong. Weird because what does outlook have to do with it (doesn’t happen when actually sending with an outlook address) and the emails actually get sent even though the warning says they cannot be sent.

it’s hard to believe Apple says it is not there issue. Their mail program looks like it is the problem

Yes. It’s totally frustrating. It asks me for my password and when I enter it it tells me that’s not it. Yes it is. So I changed my password, again. It finally let me in. Now less than 30 minutes later it asks me my outlook password. I enter it in AGAIN and it says that’s incorrect.

I am about finished with my iPhone and really leaning back to Samsung. I never had this many problems with my Galaxy.

Every single day my iPhone 12 update14.4 with 50G storage asks me for my hotmail and/or outlook password and then rejects it most every day demanding I put in a new one!!! Lately it asks for the hotmail password then pops up with a page an outlook heading to put the PW in!!!! If you ignore it sometimes you still get email and sometimes you don’t! This has been going on as long as I’ve had this phone (2 months?) and I’ve just about had it!!! I’ve seen thousands of complaints about this. So is it an Apple issue or a Microsoft issue? Maybe you could collaborate on a dang solution? Or give me one right now! I tried deleting and reinstalling. Doesn’t solve it.
