iPhone/iPad mutes other caller when I speak and vice versa

Hi Apple,

I have an annoying issue and have read several posts from others having the same issue and the solution provided has not resolved this issue yet.

I am copying another users words below as they perfectly describe the issue

Issue reported by ntgoeb - "Whenever I'm on a phone call and speak, the other person's audio cuts out until I stop talking (and for half a second or so after I stop - there seems to be a slight delay). This makes it difficult to hold a conversation - lots of stops and starts, and asking people to repeat themselves."

I have an iPhone 11 Pro and iPad Air and have faced this issue while using device's audio (regular speaker and loud speaker), I also saw this while using earphones such as Powerbeats Pro and Airpods Pro, so it's something to do with the iOS. I tried troubleshooting with steps provided on other discussion threads but still face same issue. Please advice or fix.

Thanks!

Hey there, Karan-!

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities! We understand you’re experiencing issues when making phone calls on your iPhone 11 Pro and iPad Air. Thank you for linking other discussions as well, regarding your issue did this start after an update? Please follow these steps and see if the issue persists:

  1. Set the ring/silent switch to ring
  2. Navigate to Settings > General > Accessibility
  3. Scroll down to the [Hearing] section
  4. Slide the audio volume balance slider all the way to the right
  5. Navigate to Settings > Sound & Haptics > Ringtone
  6. Tap on a ringtone to play it
  7. Listen to the sound from the receiver

When you’re done testing, be sure to return the audio volume balance slider to its previous setting.

Please try a FaceTime audio call and if the issue does not persist then it would be related to your wireless carrier. Here is an article to further assist you with making a FaceTime call:
