WiFi Speeds (iPhone 12 Pro Max)
Anybody else having slow or inconsistent WiFi speeds on iPhone 12 Pro Max? I know it’s not my WiFi because all my other devices work as usual including my iPhone X which is still have/upgraded from.

I finally solved the ridiculously slow wifi speed (just got my iphone 12 pro max today).
Turns out my VPN was kicking in while trying to configure/test everything else out.
Bottomline: I had to use cellular data to download the VPN (because it was only partially downloaded), then once it was downloaded, i disabled it. Then.... voila... wifi speed was back to "crazy fast"
Just a thought.... look at your VPN (to if you can disable it)
worked for me.
Same goes to me. It’s June, 2021 and nothing’s been fixed yet. I’m paying for high speed internet but I couldn’t enjoy it bcs of my iPhone 12’s inconsistent WiFi connection.
It's not the phone.
Router bugs work that way.
Though the workaround worked, that reveals an issue with your Wi-Fi router, not with your phone.
Why would it be an issue with the router through?
I toggled the settings on the iPhone which has the problem, didnt even touch the router or its settings.
Because the settings you are toggling should make no difference to any properly functioning router.
I use two amplifi alien routers in a mesh system with a 600mbs fibre service,
The other thing I can’t check myself is wether my iPhone is trying to connect to the 2.4ghz speed of my modem instead of the faster 5.0(?)ghz. That could explain the speed difference but unfortunately apple doesn’t let me see which networking it is trying to use... and if that is the case, the iPhone may be having issues connecting to the 5ghz band due to weak signal? I would love to have this tested in store but COVID is making this IMPOSSIBLE to be done before customer return policies.
I too have inconsistent WIFI throughput on my iPhone 12 Pro Max. I believe that I have traced the issue to the fact that I operate in dual SIM mode: Verizon using a real SIM; AT&T using an E-SIM. When I take out the Verizon SIM or turn off the AT&T line, WIFI throughput recovers.
I have opened a case with Apple Support.

That’s easy to fix. Go into your router’s settings and change the SSID of the 5GHz network so it will appear separately in the network listing in Settings/Wi-Fi. For example, if your SSID is XYZZY, change the 5 GHz SSID to XYZZY5. You can then test them separately.
Same is happening with me as well.
my husband’s phone Samsung s9 plus catches the WiFi signal from the next room, but my iphone 12 pro max looses the signal.
Its really frustrating.
hoping to get a fix soon.
Just go to your connected wifi settings and turn off the Private
address. That private address is just to keep your location more secure
but it also gives you the less wifi speed than you supposed to get.
EDIT: Alright I just turned it on again and my speed is still fast.. dont know if the switching solved my problem..
I am also using the Nest Wifi system and what I've noticed is that all of my other iOS devices will connect correctly even moving between my mesh points seamlessly with the exception of the 12 Pro Max. I have two Nest routers both connected with an ethernet backhaul so as a test I added another Nest point to cover any perceived weak spots in my coverage. For now at least that seems to have worked which means either a) every other iOS device in my network is giving me a false reading of being connected to the 5Ghz band or b) there is defiantly a wifi radio issue with the 12 Pro Max. I'm still leaning more towards B.
Just received a new iPhone 12 Max Pro and was not able to connect to the Apple ID Server using my household wifi which was running at a download speed of 150 Mbps. My other three devices in the house had no issues connecting via the same wifi. My older SE iPhone loads web pages quickly, while the new iPhone 12 Max is terribly slow and in many cases cannot load the web page. I am thinking that this is an IOS 14.2 problem, since my SE is running IOS 13.2.3.
Me too same problem.... I have one iPhone 12 Pro Max 256Gb and when I connect it to my WiFi 2.4Ghz it's really really slow and other my device, connected to the same WiFi, get a normal speed.
I tried to turn off private address, change DNS, OFF/ON WiFi and don't change nothing.
Instead when connect iPhone to 5Ghz WiFi connection everything good.
I think the problem is 2.4Ghz module, maybe one iOS update can solve this problem?
