iPhone 12 Pro Max camera issues

Yes, same problem here just with the Pro model.

Still have not heard back from Apple engineering about an update of the problem.

Feel like news will break on this problem soon haha.

The 12 Pro Max 1x camera cannot focus as close as the other 12 models (12 pro, 12, 12 Mini). The Pro Max minimum focusing distance is approx 4.5", whereas the other 12 series models can focus to approx 3". I have tried three Pro Max phones and they focussed to 4.5". Other users have also reported the same limitation. It is disappointing that Apple's flagship phone cannot focus as close at the other phones in the 12 line-up.

I have also created a ticket with techs comparing iPhone X vs iPhone XS vs iPhone 12 Pro Max and sent samples. Waiting for response too :(

On iPhone X and XS everything is normal but with iPhone 12 Pro Max screen flickers in most artificial light conditions and some natural conditions recording video at 4K 60 FPS.

Hope a fix/answer soon.

Posting anything here will not get the attention of anyone at Apple, if that's what you were hoping for, and commiserating with others here also doesn't change anything.

I just got my 12 pro max and was excited to use the camera but also sadly found some problems with it:

1.) camera not focusing on 1X close by

2.) portrait mode not blurring images correctly

3.) video flickering at 4K 60 FPS

4.) glare and reflections of lights appearing in photos which is the most annoying.

Having exactly the same problem. Apple Support ran remote hardware diagnostics, all looks fine. Now they want me to reset the phone to test if the problem persists, but I am reluctant as that means that I will have to restore from backup afterwards to the same device (which is a real hassle with many apps that require individual reauthentication) in any case, and if they replace the phone then I will have to restore again to the new replacement device. I have AppleCare+, but apparently I might have to bear the replacement cost of EUR 99 if they deem that it's "not a defect"...

Any advice here? Waiting for iOS 14.3?

My camera on iphone 12 pro max is so messed up and i think everybody already face the same problem with the camera. The camera doesnt seems able to focus on close distance object which i find this thing very frustrating!, This problem upset me so much bcs i spent a fortune on the phone but all i get is lousy technologies from apple! What are you guys even promoting? Lies and dream is it?? What do i need to do? should i apply refund for this type of product that apple sell? I want apple to compensate for my time, my money, my mental disputes!

My camera won’t even function most of the time. I got the 12 pro and the whole time I’ve had it, when I tap camera all that comes up is a black screen, and won’t work until I fully restart my phone. /:

That picture seems to be taken with a 5 year old phone, it is definitely not the S20. Mine takes great photos and if there are any flares, they are around 20% of the intensity of the ones on pro max.

And how about the close focus problem? I clearly posted a picture of the two phones side by side.

I get a weird ghost upside down image of anything bright I point at from in this case inside my house. In my photo you can see the image of the car outside being reflected on my dog. I don’t know if it’s just the lens reflecting the outside scene and the reflection getting caught in the image or what?

Exactly what is happening to me as well. Was an iphone xr owner previously- best iphone Ive ever had. I just brought the 12 pro max home the other day and immediately noticed this glaring flaw in the first video I took. It was an outdoor overcast day. Problem: flickering areas, white balance changing constantly- warm, cold, warm, cold, warm. Just ugly and disappointing. Another problem Ive found right away was over-sharpening and high noise reduction applied to all photos with no way to disable even with pro raw mode. What in the world Apple? Anybody found a fix?

anyone facing this issue? I have an iphone pro max and when I take a picture my iphone forces an edit on it. Adding sharpness and contrast. It makes pictures dusty and ugly. Does anyone know how I can disable this. I tried everything.

I have had my camera freeze constantly over the last few days. I have only really used the camera over the last weak as I am on holidays and it is very annoying. I spoke to Apple who have me a link to fix which just suggested I restart the phone. What’s the go then ???
