iPhone 12 Pro Max camera issues

I have a 1/2-second to 2-second lag 9’ iPhone 12 Pro Max on the 0.5x camera only (so far). I’ll watch the people in real life and the scene of them on the camera is moving sometimes seconds later. Latency is insane.

I haven't experienced some of these other issues but, I've definitely experienced the stuttering video and video dropping frames. And it doesn't matter whether I'm shooting in HDR or not. Doesn't matter if I'm in 4k or 1080p. Frame rate doesn't matter at all. I've tried 24 up to 60 and it still drops frames and produces video with stutter. Lighting doesn't make a difference. It happens outside in daylight, inside in a well-lit studio, and in low-light situations. It happens in the Apple camera app and it happens in 3rd party apps like Beastcam and FilmicPro. It happens if I record direct to phone or if I use an Apple lighting to HDMI adapter to a Blackmagic Design ATEM Mini and record to PC using OBS.

Apple has offered to replace the phone but, from everything I've read, I don't think it's a hardware issue. I don't think a replacement phone will fix anything. I wish Apple would fix all these camera issues but, unfortunately, I think their "fix" is going to be the next generation iPhone that they'll try to sell us.

I bought this iPhone 12 Pro Max to do video production, and that was a marketing focus of theirs. It's not like I'm trying to use this device for an unintended purpose. Now that I can start traveling again and doing production work, I have to scramble to find another device to use. Maybe I'll just go back to my Canon M50 and call it a day. I was really looking forward to being able to use this apple device and not have to carry around that larger camera...

And I’m sure it’s something the user is doing because Apple can do no wrong...

I have reset my phone back to factory settings, installed nothing, and I get stutter when recording video in a well-lit studio at 1080p 30 or 60fps. If there’s a factor at play, it’s Apple’s hardware or software.

It’s just a matter of right camera settings. All the 3 lenses are very sensitive and they need sufficient light wether shooting in outdoor day light or indoor low light. Also selection of FPS is subject to lights and compatibility. So make sure you are using right number of FPS (Frames per second)

also try adjusting exposures once you have locked it, before hitting the red rec button. Again Light is everything. Happy Filming Mate! :)

In the real world, settings for different light conditions are what makes the difference between poor point-and-shoot and high quality equipment.

Sure, you can use it as a point and shoot, but as with a $5000 professional camera, if you do, you won't like the results.

The best example is if you try to take 60 FPS video in a room lit with LEDs running off 50 Hz AC power in Europe, your scenes are going to look like they are illuminated by strobe light.

Yes no issue or less issue (Subject to how good the light is) Trust me it’s working all perfectly fine. Also one last but important tip... Always clear the ram and then restart the phone once before shooting anything. Nothing wrong with the hardware, i already had a word with Apple. It’s just that these lenses are highly sensitive and need enough light to do perfectly fine when it comes to shooting videos.

PS : I wish they had night mode too for shooting the videos.

I was completely unaware of this error. But now, more and more, I am realizing that they are not taking care of the iPhone 12 range at all due to the large number of bugs that they have many months after their launch.

My wife just got the iPhone 12 and camera flickers at 60fps filming. This seems to occur in rooms with LED lighting and white walls.

Is this a design flaw or a fault? I’m not so sure

turning auto fps to off has no effect on the flickering 1080p 60fps- just tried. Hopefully a solution comes soon

I did restore to default both iphones that I had and no luck. I also did setup them as new iphone with manual setup.

I recently bought the new iPhone 12 Pro Max.

I have noticed that when I shoot video's in the dark (with the lights on in the house), there is some kind of flickering visible in the video.

Apparently it is possible that due to very fast flickering of lights, slowmo video's make this kind of flickering visible when you can not see it with the naked eye.

I however have this problem with normal video's as well. I have compared it with the video's on my iPhone X and it is definitely worse in my iPhone 12 video's.

I noticed that this happens while recording video on HD (or 4K) at 60 FPS, if you switch to 30 FPS this doesn't happen.

Anyone else that has this problem?
