Qi charging iPhone 12

I got the same problem with the same setup: iPhone 12 Pro with a 2021 XC60. Curious will there be a fix or workaround for this as wireless charging is so much simpler than regular charging via the cable.

I have a Volvo XC 90 and am experiencing the same problem of not being able to charge my iPhone 12 Pro. I’ve tried taking off the protective case and like others it seems to connect and then almost immediately it disconnects and the message about clearing the charging area appears.

I have told my Volvo dealer in Denmark about the problem. He has sent my complaint to Volvo Denmark on January, 11., asking them what to do.

Arrogant and annoying answer from Volvo. Unacceptable that the charging technology of a USD $25 phone charger is superior to the the technology of the charger in a USD $70,000 car. Should be an easy fix for Volvo if they wanted to support their customers.

I wonder if Apple let Volvo (or any of the OEMs) know about the changes to the iPhone 12 before they made them?

And why is one of the most popular phones not Qi-complaint?

I can see how this is very frustrating for all of the manufacturers as they now have to tweak their designs (which work with the vast majority of phones) to tailor the iPhone 12, which will be replaced by a newer model in a few months anyway.

Well that seems like a bunch of happy horse crap. Did they also tell you to sacrifice a chicken in the back seat and post the photos?

i guess we ought to forgive Volvo though since few own an iPhone.

Also affected by this issue with my new XC60. Love everything about the car except this issue. Thank you to all here making the phone calls, having an inside with Volvo service Dept, etc to keep the thread updated.

After seeing several posts regarding the update, I contacted my local dealer (I’m in the U.S.) and they had no idea what I was talking about. They searched the computer for any available updates and found none. He asked me if happen to get ahold of the update’s part number, they could try looking for that specifically. I don’t know where anyone is from but are any of you that have all gotten the update in the U.S.? If so, just trying to figure out why my dealer wouldn’t know anything about it... so frustrating because I’m ready to ditch the wire.

I would really love an update from Apple or Volvo on this issue. It has been dead silence.

I upgraded to 14.3 and it still doesn’t work in the XC60

I have an appointment with my Volvo dealer in early January. He knows the problem and has not refused to help me.

Just bought a 2021 Volvo XC60 yesterday and I’m having the same issue. Not a huge deal since I’ll likely keep the phone connected to the USB to enable car play, but would be nice if it worked.

There are 3rd party adapters to enable wireless CarPlay but no point if you can’t wirelessly charge.

I picked up my 2021 Volvo XC60 here in Melbourne Australia 4 days ago. I also have the exact same issue as everyone is describing here with a new iPhone 12. Very disappointing.
