iPhone 12 Pro Max Display issue

Hi so I just purchased an iPhone 12 Pro max, in India.

In a day of my purchase I realised that the display is warmer than usual even with True Tone and night shift off.

So I went to the apple store to compare it again, and I was right. Turns out my display is warmer than the phones on display.

Having realised that I asked the guy at store about it and he refused to replace it and asked me to contact a authorised apple service provider.

On doing that the service provider simply says apple makes 2 types of displays

  1. cooler or the one with a blue tint
  2. warmer or the one with a yellow tint

Saying that he refused to take up my phone for verifying my claim and simply said its not an issue and nothing can be done.

this is really sad and frustrating, since even after paying so much for a phone that's the kind of reply I get.

Attached the picture for comparison, all the settings are the same of the two phones, no screen guards or temper glasses on both the phones, full brightness and night shift and True Tone is off.

I Cleary believe something is wrong with my phone, but am surprised that it is clearly ignored

I believe this is by design. I watched a YouTube video where they suggest Apple chose to go with a slightly warmer tone as opposed to the overly stark white of the previous generation. You can get into settings and alter this if you choose in accessibility, but now that I've had my iPhone 12 Pro Max for a few days, I'm finding the slightly warmer tone to be easier on my eyes for extended viewing sessions. There is no difference in how videos are rendered however, which is good.

I literally went through this exact issue today and I’m seeing tons of complains on Twitter about this exact problem. The screen is too warm! And it’s annoying. It feels like nothing is it’s true color and compared to my last iPhone which has such a cooler tone. All the phones at the apple store display is cooler than mine. I’m being told all 12 pro Max are like this now. Upsetting when you’ve spent so much on a phone. Please fix this apple.

There are websites now mentioning that Apple has acknowledged some display issues with the entire iPhone 12 lineup, and is going to correct it by a software update. While those websites do not specifically state "a warm tint" that this post is discussing, the issue might also be fixed in a upcoming iOS update!

Sir do not worry this is done to protect from screen burn since oled can get a screen burn easily. This is due to auto brightness is on. So the max brightness is lower when this is turned on.

Go to accessibility-> display&text-> turn off auto-brightness

u will see the difference ( turn off dark mode)

To see the change put brightness to 100% before turning off auto brightness.

Go to white background for eg recent call immediately in a second to see the changes wait for 5 seconds.

NOTE: Auto-brightness is turned on in accessibility to protect the screen from burn-in.

I recently upgraded to an iPhone 12 pro max, and boy am I experiencing long list of glitches.

uploads are taking forever and at time I end up having to cancel out of whatever it is.

phone freezes, screen freezes, keyboard freezes.

the option of back button freezes as well it’s truly a pain, for as much as these of iPhone cost $$$$ we shouldn’t be expecting so many glitches. And here I thought my iPhone 8 Plus was giving me issues little did I know, that the supposed newer iPhone would turn out to be worse!!!
