iPhone 12 pro max keeps dimming

Just flew into Denver to drive to Breckenridge. I brought my old iphone xs max because I was worried about the dimming issue that I had been having when navigating. Sure enough, I had to use my xs which was 100x brighter. The one on the left is My old XS Max Right is the new iPhone 12 Pro Max. Definitely an issue that needs fixing. Causes a great deal of distraction/danger when driving.

Can’t believe now many people are having this. It’s exciting I am not alone 😆 shame it’s not easily solved 🤦🏻‍♀️

I did really honestly thought it was just me. Well the phone. I’m not so lucky so I just crack on. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have had iPhone mini replacement for this issue previously. I’ve sold that since and I now have the purple mini.

This is the same unfortunately.

(All the dim and brightness battery and face attention etc are off. Always have. I’ve tried force restart. I’ve tried reset and set up as new).

I’m just saying this so it doesn’t get re-suggested lol I’ve read the thread. 🤐

I’ve still got a iPhone 11pro. Thinks I may use this if I can’t find my happy ending..

I’ve not felt a phone get this hot for long time.

It’s archaic… shouldn’t happen in this technological era. (I’m sad) always loved apple.

And I’m out of pocket. I’ll be in touch with apple as I pay the apple coverage too. See what happens. 🙄

I normally would be kicking my own *** because I ‘should have got the 12pro’ but I don’t even feel like I would have it.

The mini was what I wanted. I was well excited I love having a small phone, I’m tiny so it’s a nice thing to hold a phone and not nearly drop it.

Very disheartening 😵‍💫 (ah well, I’ve been trying to get use of the emojis while I can) 😬⁉️

Odd how this works for some and not others. I’ve turned off everything I can turn off with no results. Not that we should have to turn off all these features just to hopefully make the phone work properly...

I’ve tried capturing the issue with a screen recording but it doesn’t capture brightness changes. The recording just plays back at the current brightness setting. Unless of course it’s starting dimming.. lol. Like you mentioned when it’s acting up adjusting the brightness slide bar doesn’t do anything until you get to around the bottom 1/3 of the bar.

So I had my iPhone replaced around 2 weeks ago because it had the screen dimming fault.. it failed all tests in store so they gave me a new one. Now my replacement phone not only has the same fault… but now my **** cameras don’t work! Like ummmm, what the sh*t apple! No Face ID, all three rear cameras don’t work and nor the front.. I know they’re not broken because when I open the camera app they briefly show an image then instantly freeze, FaceTime says another app is using my cameras and my Face ID works for passwords but not to actually unlock my phone! I’m so disappointed and frustrated with apple and how janky these iPhones are!

I was happy about upgrading because it was like I am saving this upgrade for something Awesome Like 12 Pro

I’m still having issues with my screen as well. No matter what settings I play with it does not help!! I’ve turned it on and off and turned off all auto dim settings and still dims whenever it wants?! Why is this an issue? I do not understand it. It has given me so many problems. :-( please fix this issue in an update or something!

I have the same issue. This is my first and last time that I bought a Iphone. It doesn’t matter what you have settled, Apple always do what they want to do and it’s include turn down my iPhone brightness. It’s impossible use my iPhone under the sun for more than 10 minutes.

My 12 max dims noticeably less since this most recent update. It still does it from time to time though. This is encouraging.. At least it seams it can be addressed with software fixes. I’ll probably still go in and have it replaced. If nothing else to add another replacement to Apple’s list. If they care enough to track the issue.

I am having the same issue, soft reset only fixes it for a few seconds, both auto dim turned off, True Tone on, etc. None of it works. I’m considering a warranty replacement, so if that continues on to the new phone I’m going to be super bummed out.

Mine has gotten noticeably better since the last update. Still dims from time to time but not nearly as much which is encouraging. I’d be curious to know if any others noticed any improvement after the last update. Still needs work Apple…

Im having the same issue and I’ve turned off both settings as well. I’m also finding my battery life is pitiful. By 10am more than half of my battery life is gone. Too much money for these inconsistencies and inconveniences.

My iPhone 12 Pro Max CONSTANTLY dims all day as well as throughout the night. I’ve made sure that the auto bright & the True Tone buttons are both off but it has not stopped this consistent dimming. Has anyone found a fix to this obviously pervasive issue??

Unfortunately, no. Mine still dims whenever the **** it wants to which is 24/7 with my phone. I feel like this phone has a mind of its own since it’s literally still dimming with those features turned off!

Unfortunately, none of the suggestions, including the latest update, has done anything to fix my constant dimming problem which tells me my new 12 Pro Max is defective. This is just a pain because now I’m going to have to figure out how to deal with this problem with Verizon. There’s always something….. thanks everyone for the suggestions though! It’s greatly appreciated!
