iPhone 12 Pro Max dropping calls and poor phone signal

I have just received an iPhone 12 Pro Max and am having issues.

The signal is much poorer than my iPhone 11 Pro Max in exactly the same place - 1 bar instead of 2.

The call quality is poor and calls keep dropping.

I have read on here others are having the same issue.

Is this likely to be software or hardware? I have tried everything and Apple support have been unable to help me.

Been using iPhone since it’s inception. Upgrade every year. This iPhone 12pro has been the biggest disappointment to date. Picked up my new 12 pro on release day. Constantly dropping calls and losing service with the iPhone not activated banner popping up. Happens every time my phone leaves a particular service area and in between changing towers. Airplane on/off rarely fixed the issue. Usually have to do a hard reboot to get the signal back, & then will only show 3G connectivity. Been to Verizon about the issue, they performed the network reset trick to no avail. Really disappointed in the product I’ve touted and promoted for years. Big Fail on this one apple. Hopefully you are working on a quick resolution.

I do not understand why when you call Apple Support they act like they know nothing about this issue. This is so frustrating I wish was within my time frame to return this Iphone Pro 12 Max. Dropped calls, calls failed talking to someone and it fades in and out. I have replaced the sim, network reset and turned off 5g to no relief. I have a very expensive paper weight at this moment as I cannot use it. This issue when you google it is on multiple forums. When are they going to fix this issue? They offer to send a replacement phone but what good does that do if the issue is not resolved. Sorry, just so frustrated!!!!

Apple replaced my new iPhone 12 pro max after complete diagnostics run by both Verizon and Apple. Same issues now with continued dropped calls and fading in and out heard on the part of the party I’m speaking with.

For those of you having this issue here could you please chime back in and disclose your carrier?? I have Verizon and to date that’s the only carrier I’ve seen identified here.

I have the 12 pro max and I’m having the same exact issues, my friends and family have constantly complained about dropped calls and audio breaking up when calling. At first this was only an issue when I’m driving and switching between 4g and 5g towers but now even when I’m parked and stationary the calls keep getting called when I’m talking to someone on the phone. The 12 pro max is a big disappointment, I hope apple comes out with a service program for the phones to repair the issue ASAP cause this is totally unacceptable!

I've been having the same issue and went through some trouble shooting with Verizon but did not fix the issue. I have just tried something I found in a web search, which was to shut off the Bluetooth for a bit then turn it back on. Well I turned it off and made a few trial calls without the Bluetooth. Well so far that is working. Will see if that corrects the issue. I'm sure Apple is working on an update fix shortly. Fingers crossed.

Turned off 5G here and so far phone is functioning ok for now, but all in all, this phone performs quite poorly compared to my trusty 8 that I used for three years. Typing lag on text, slow download of photos/pictures when using internet whilst on WiFi, dropped calls or whoever I am speaking with suddenly not being able to hear me. Did they rush this phone to market? Hopefully they are able to fix these issues soon. I have an appointment at Apple next week but something tells me I’m wasting my time. Already spent hours on phone with Apple support and of course the solution is......RESET. Lol

Hello, I just purchase 2 Iphone 12 pro max 256gb on Dec 3. I am having the same issue. I took it into the Jump Plus store and they basically did nothing. I tried switching service providers from Fido to Telus and then back to Fido but still the same issue. Here is what I did to resolve the issue,

Open settings

Select "Cellular"

Turn off "Cellular Data"

Select Cellular Data Options"

Select Voice & Data and pick the 3G network.

Doing this gave me full bars within a few seconds and it is still working well.

Hope this helps, please let me know if this works for you.

So I just got off with Apple. They are wanting me to believe it is simply "bugs" in the software and will resolve the green orbs for the camera and the dropped calls which I know isn't the case. They said to restore the phone and if it still happens which it will they will swap out with another phone....so that is what I am doing. I am not sure why they play stupid as if nobody is having these issues. So more energy being exerted for nothing I am sure.

My iPhone 12 Pro drops calls more often than I’ve ever dropped calls since I joined Verizon in 2008. I don’t have many issues at home but I’m in a strong signal area. If I’m in a weak signal area, which may be on the edge of a towers range, it’ll constantly drop. If I’m driving it’s pretty bad too as it drops consistently. If someone sends me a text message within these drop zones the message is received by my device multiple times.

This needs a fix immediately. My phone is unreliable.

Had my 12 pro for 3 weeks now and it is a great phone for everything...Except its primary function, being a phone, My outgoing voice fades out every 1-2 minutes, I can hear the person on the call but they cant hear me. 2 calls to support, they say its a network issue, which is rubbish as the taking the sim out and placing it in my old XS max doesn’t give me the same issues. It is also not location or signal strength dependant. Tried a reset of network settings after a support call that did not help at all.

I know one other guy at work who says hes having the same issues and he is with a different network provider, so as far as I am concerned the responsibility lies with Apple....
