iPhone 12 Pro Max dropping calls and poor phone signal

I have just received an iPhone 12 Pro Max and am having issues.

The signal is much poorer than my iPhone 11 Pro Max in exactly the same place - 1 bar instead of 2.

The call quality is poor and calls keep dropping.

I have read on here others are having the same issue.

Is this likely to be software or hardware? I have tried everything and Apple support have been unable to help me.

Quick update, not a single dropped call or network issue since I forced LTE.

Moment I go back to enabling 5G, issues return in full force and consistency. This is on Verizon with latest iOS.

Certainly not the Apple of Steve Jobs not to acknowledge the issue publicly and assure it’s users of it’s commitment to fix the problem.

I have dropped more calls in 2 days of having this new iPhone 12 than I have in the last 2 years with VW. They told me I have 14 days to return it so I will see what’s up but I’m sad. I don’t wanna give up my phone. However, I can’t pay $1400 for something so unreliable. I add that I have lived in the same home for 30 years and all the other phones that I have used with VW in this condo have been great and never gave me a problem, up until this one.

Tell me about it. And I talked to Verizon and outside my 14 days and won't return it for me and want to swap out since this one sucks and is totally problematic yet they want to give me a refurbished phone. Nice! Glad I did this NOT. And how about those green orbs when using your camera at night...totally sucks too. I probably had over 12 dropped calls today alone.

I do not understand why when you call Apple Support they act like they know nothing about this issue. This is so frustrating I wish was within my time frame to return this Iphone Pro 12 Max. Dropped calls, calls failed talking to someone and it fades in and out. I have replaced the sim, network reset and turned off 5g to no relief. I have a very expensive paper weight at this moment as I cannot use it. This issue when you google it is on multiple forums. When are they going to fix this issue? They offer to send a replacement phone but what good does that do if the issue is not resolved. Sorry, just so frustrated!!!!

I got the 12 Pro Max a couple of weeks ago. All was fine until I had to actually use it to make longer calls (longer than 3-5 minutes). What I have come to find out is that this phone is completely unusable as a "phone." I literally cannot stay connected to ANY calls. I've spent most of my day working with Verizon support. Resetting the network settings did nothing, in fact I think it made it worse. Now they had me erasing all content and settings and starting from scratch. It's presently restoring my backup. I pretty sure this won't work. In the .000001% chance that it does, I will report back but I'm sure others have tried it. I can't say enough how sorry I am that I traded my perfectly fine 11 Max Pro for this garbage. Apple needs to do something because this device is an epic fail. Flip phones from 20 years ago were better than this.
