iPhone 12 Pro Max dropping calls and poor phone signal

I have just received an iPhone 12 Pro Max and am having issues.


The signal is much poorer than my iPhone 11 Pro Max in exactly the same place - 1 bar instead of 2.


The call quality is poor and calls keep dropping.


I have read on here others are having the same issue.


Is this likely to be software or hardware? I have tried everything and Apple support have been unable to help me.

Been using iPhone since it’s inception. Upgrade every year. This iPhone 12pro has been the biggest disappointment to date. Picked up my new 12 pro on release day. Constantly dropping calls and losing service with the iPhone not activated banner popping up. Happens every time my phone leaves a particular service area and in between changing towers. Airplane on/off rarely fixed the issue. Usually have to do a hard reboot to get the signal back, & then will only show 3G connectivity. Been to Verizon about the issue, they performed the network reset trick to no avail. Really disappointed in the product I’ve touted and promoted for years. Big Fail on this one apple. Hopefully you are working on a quick resolution.

Due to this issue, I went to an AT&T store to replace the phone with a lower version. They only give you 14 days for returning your phone. I assumed it would be the normal 30 days. I am on day 16, so I a SOL with AT&T, been a loyal customer for 15 years. They informed me I have to call Apple, which I did. Took 15 minutes on hold before I spoke to the first rep. I explained my issues, she said "hold on while I investigate". She never came back on. Guess Apple does not want to deal with this issue. Ten minutes later I started with a new person. The new person seems more responsible. Going on a 1.5 hours of dealing with this issue.

I have been experiencing the same issues since I purchased the phone in November. Many hours on the phone and very little help from Verison (reset network, new sim card) and still same problems. On a call today with Apple support, 2 different reps acted like they never heard of this ongoing problem (iPhone 12 dropping calls) that many people are having (seriously?). They sent a ticket to their engineering team, and now I'm waiting on a call back next week. This is ridiculous! Worst iPhone ever so far! Apple failed big time on the iPhone 12 rollout! Hope they come up with a fix soon. Otherwise what's the point of a phone that always drops calls, would have to get a new non Apple phone.

iPhone 12 drops calls constantly. I have spoken to Apple and Verizon tech and tried numerous fixes to no avail. Apple tech acted as this has not happened before. Also, Apple tech can tell exactly how many calls have been dropped by the phone. It seems there is no answer to the problem and Apple is not being pro-active, so many of us are left chasing the wild goose.

SAME EXACT ISSUE AND I'VE HAD IT! Expecting a call to get my vaccine and I have ZERO confidence I can receive a call. Its like 80/20 with getting a call. Most times I cant hear them or vice versa... Usually ok making a call, but not receiving. Have to toggle airplane mode sometimes to get internet connections when not on wifi. Never had an issue with my iPhone6, this 12 Mini is horrible! Not spoken to Verizon yet, but have to do something soon!

iPhone 12 Pro Max IOS 14.4 has not helped with the dropped call problem. Apple support they dont know how to help, and they dont accept that problem is real. Apple support 4 times try to erase/install new iPhone, and still is not working


what is better on service they give me onother phone for time when they will try fixed.

My 12 pro max will NOT accept/answer a call on WiFi and if it does, I sound robotic to the person calling, and then it drops. I can dial out, but it drops within 5-10 seconds. The only workaround I have found is keeping WiFi off when you want to actually use this piece of crap as a “phone.” This is a pain because most times I forget I’m on WiFi and either answer or dial out and it’s a typical disaster, and I have to go into settings to shut WiFi off and try again. I have missed countless important calls, been dropped in meetings, etc. and for a $1200 price tag, this is beyond unacceptable. Apple needs to own this, fix it, or replace us all with new 11’s and reimburse the difference. Just admit the 12 was a flop, and move forward... but do right by your die hard customers.
