M1 MacBook Air "Missing USB Class Driver" when trying to print to Dymo 4xl

I can print wirelessly to my Epson printer with no issues. I downloaded the latest Dymo USB driver 8.7.5 that is supposedly compatible with Big Sur.

I go through the installation and it seems to work fine. The Mac recognizes the Dymo 4xl printer in the print utility. When I try to print directly via a USB connection (no hub) the error message on the print dialog reads "Missing USB Class Driver" and nothing will print.

Here's what I have tried to so far to troubleshoot:

Reset the entire printer system

Rebooted after drive install

Deleted Dymo drive and tried reinstall.

Any help or insight would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!

Same problem. DYMO responded to my inquiry on Nov. 19, 2020 with "The error message is because our software is not compatible with the M1 processors, the developers are working on a compatible driver but we do not have any confirmed date of releasing that driver."

I use the DYMO to print shipping 4x6 labels so had to switch to alternative brand (wireless capability).

I know what a Dymo thermal printer is. I just don’t have a Dymo App on my comouter to print as someone above mentioned. I deleted the printer and then added the printer again. Someone above mentioned to delete the printer AND the drivers. I did delete the printer but do not know how to “and delete the drivers.”

mine is still not working as I’m still getting the original error “missing USB ...”

i have the same problem too but still as of late feb the update is still not here at the moment i cannot print on my M1 MBP and i im trynna figure out if i can print but sadly not, first i had a problem about my printer's software because it said it was not on my mac and now my computer is saying that usb driver is missing and i tried to search for what the problem is all about and it turns out that it was about apple's new chip

I have the same problem The only thing I can find is that some Epson printer users are having the same problem.

Almost forgot to add- when I first set the computer up, the dymo worked with no issues, I was easily able to print labels. About 3 days in it randomly stopped working.

Well - sorry to hear it, but glad I am not alone. I guess we will just have to wait for some sort of operating system update for the M1. I am usually not an early adopter - one more reason to wait.

Thanks for the insight here. Understanding the situation with extension security has stopped me yelling profanities and wasting even more time. Waiting on Dymo to get their act together.

Did this work for you? Having the exact same issue with the 4XL and went in to follow this step. Nothing changed and still will not print.

NO - The issue is with Dymo. Until they release an M1 Apple Silicon compatible driver, you cannot use the Dymo 4XL (and perhaps other Dymo models) on M1 Macs.

Such an absolute joke. Dymo's "Contact Us" page even results in a 405 error. Anyone have luck with other printers, i.e. Brother? Reading AirPlay printers will work well.

Same problem here. I have a Dymo 4XL and just installed Big Sur on a M1 Mac Mini.

I get the same message: "Missing USB class driver" when trying to print.

Can you share which printer you bought that worked with the M1 chip?

Was it the Brother QL-1110NWB?

Very frustrated that I have to buy another printer. But I guess I have no choice.
