Loud crackling noise then iPhone 12 shut off

If you have a Twitter account send Apple Support a tweet and report your problem. I did this in February and they responded immediately. Not very helpful but at least they responded 🤷‍♀️ I told them to read their community forums because it wasn’t just me. I’ve gotten no further response. Maybe if we all posted on their Twitter account 🧐

I’ve had my iPhone 12 mini since June 28th, 2021 and it finally did a crackle. I’ve had many issues with it over the year and have always wanted this phone to be great like it said it was going to be. Phone is having issues scrolling after its self initiated reboot, and Apple owes a lot of explaining as to why the 12’s are undeniably a faulty product that got the go ahead to be produced. Was it deadline?? So it was ok to sell an unstable product that’s obviously not a system error because …… of ……. What’s the excuse Apple?? There’s no way you can “bug fix” an issue when each and every phone in the 12th generation has an internal hardware issue. It’s not the programming, it’s the wiring, and they know that! Hence not responding accordingly to this issue when it was first brought to their attention. So what happened after Crackle2021? Did the phones go full on Maximum Overdrive or nah?

just had the bajeesus scared out of me when it crackled and then the bottom half of my screen was discolored, and I couldn’t do anything for a few seconds and then it reboot with the apple logo and everything and now it seems ok

nice to see no changes have been done to stop it from happening on the 12 max pro after 2 years haha

This just happened to me. iPhone 12 Pro Max using the Amazon app and suddenly a LOUD crackle noise (**** near dropped the phone!) and pinkish/purple static across the top of the screen and then it went black. After a bit the Apple logo came up (that was a relief!). Seems okay now. There is an entry for it in the Settings/Privacy/Analytics & Improvements/Analytics data.

Happened to me ten minutes ago. So scary!! Loud noise and then a static-y looking screen before shutting off. I was playing a game on my phone... Apple Support wasn't really able to do anything other than say that if it happens again to contact them. Very weird.. I honestly wonder what happened.

Spoke to Apple great news is they ran a diagnostic over the phone no need to visit now registered a case have a case number just in case!

The diagnostic came showed the phone is ok thank god.

I did get the feeling even though they were surprised at the issue it’s not the first time they heard of this problem they do know this is happening I kept pointing them to this site to read some of the peoples comment but seem to ignore me

Just happened to me, iOS 16.0.3 - battery at 50%. Was laying in bed scrolling through Instagram reels. Loud crackling sound despite my phone being on silent and the volume at 0. Purple “confetti” and frozen screen. Then went black and restarted.

iPhone 12 pro max, I’ve had it for 2 years now.

Just happened to me. Battery was over 80% I was scrolling TikTok and it happened. This has happened to many people for over 2 years and most seem to be iPhone 12. Mine is 12 Pro Max. I have had this phone since it came out over 2 years ago. I am gentle with my phone and I take great care of my phone because in my mind, it’s a $1200 computer. So why hasn’t Apple addressed this? Over 2 years of complaints and Apple hasn’t said a word. Very odd. Also find it interesting that a lot of us were on TikTok. 🤔 my phone shut itself down and rebooted. I then did a reboot as well. I’ve been holding off on upgrading because I’ve not had issues with this model and honestly don’t want to fork over another $1200+ for a new one right now. So 🍎 needs to respond something

Exactly the same - looking at a picture in fb, electric crackles, magenta confetti pixels and the nothing until the Apple showed up on its own you restart. Send to be working fine now. iPhone 12, a year and a half old.

Just happened to me too. An electrical buzzing sound and quickly restarted. I was watching a live stream. Full battery as well and the phone wasnt hot or anything.

This just happened to me. Like a slicing electrical noise and then blue pixels then it cut off. So scary

iphone 12 pro here and just had the same issue, scared the life out of me! it loudly crackled (my volume was off) then a load of purple pixels came around the camera and then shut off!

This just happened to me on my 12 pro max. Loud electrical/cackling sound and pinkish purple spots all over the screen. It froze for a few seconds then automatically rebooted.

Mine did the same thing except it was green pixels, crackling noise then off and back on, phone was also at 42% when it happened, seems like others have had the same problem at 42%
