Loud crackling noise then iPhone 12 shut off

Just happened to me not even 5 minutes ago! It definitely startled me and my baby! Iphone 12 pro max. I was just on google, searching some bags. Why the heck is apple still not responding about this issue?

Can confirm, it also happened to me just 5 mins ago. Was scrolling through Twitter, heard the crackling sounds just like everyone but my screen went black then restarted. I’ll admit, it scared the bejeesus out of me and I am too, scared of my safety. I thought the phone might explode or I might get shocked or something. WTF

It happened to me just five minutes ago, I was playing a game in the screen made a new electric shock sound and I got purple for a second. Then the phone restarted itself it’s iPhone 12 pro max not even a year old. Really ****** off right now and scared to use it

I had the same issue happen to me. I was scrolling through recipes, phone was at 35% and not hot. My iPhone 12 Pro Max made a crackling sound, a staticky flash in the upper part of the screen then went black.It rebooted on its own about 5-10 seconds later. This is the first time this has ever happened. Very strange.

Same exact issue just happened here. iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 15.1.1. Scrolling on phone while plugged in (mostly if not totally charged but I hadn’t unplugged yet). Then a sudden loud crackling noise that sounded like an electrical short, followed by bright flash and black screen. I restarted it and it seems ok but definitely not normal. I’ve had this phone for over a year and this is the first time I’ve experienced this.

iPhone 12 Pro, latest update. Was using Instagram and got the crackling/bright flash and then phone blacked out. Couldn’t do anything. Was on charger not completely charged yet. Unplugged it and the phone automatically rebooted itself. At first all my texts were gone and came back 5 minutes later. My phone was a year old December 2021 & like everyone else paid a fortune for it. Apple has not commented or addressed this issue yet. Why?

literally JUST happened to me while scrolling through tiktok. my phone glitched all of a sudden, it was purple/pink and green pixels distorting the screen and made an electric noise and then just shut off

Same thing just happened to me on my iPhone 12 Pro Max. Had this phone for over a year and this is the first time this has happened. Sounded like an electrical short, purple and green pixels, then it shut off and rebooted. Seems to be fine now but it scared me for sure.

Wow, same thing here, iPhone 12 Mini, picked it up from charger, scrolled Instagram and boom, purple confetti in bottom left corer, black screen, reboot. I read through all the comments from the last 2 years, and still no answer from Apple...

This JUST happened to me. I was on Twitter trying to follow an artist when it suddenly froze and made this electric shock noise. Scared the crap out of me!

will my phone be okay? It’s my first time ever getting a new phone, just upgraded 2 months ago from a really old iPhone 6 and it never did this!

This happened to me last night too. I was scrolling through Twitter and suddenly my phone made a loud whirring noise and the screen had pink and purple orbs and then simply restarted. Didn’t notice a shock or burnt scent but it did scare me to death omg.

I had this same issue, I was just sitting there scrolling and all the sudden my phone glitched out and crackled. Then shut off. Scared me… not only because of the sudden noise but because I was worried my phone wasn’t going to turn back on..

this just happened to me too! i’m glad i was able to find this thread and see that others have experienced this too. i just had my phone sitting on my desk with a game open, and then i heard the crackling and then boom— the screen went black. i had to manually restart it and i don’t see any issues so far… why hasn’t support helped with this yet?

Mine happened on the iPad Air 2022. I have never had this issue on any of my other iPads or iPhones. I have an iPhone 13 pro and before this new iPad I had iPad 2021

i was playing a game on an app I have played for years. I was going to contact support but from these responses, it may be a waste of time

Same issue. iPhone 12 Pro. Crackled noise and blue pixels down the screen. The phone turned off. Apple logo on and it seems to be fine. I was using Facebook messenger to answer a message. Crazy this hasn’t been investigated. It’s why I decided to post.
