Loud crackling noise then iPhone 12 shut off

Just happened to me I was playing a game and it made a very large crack noise and then turned off I thought my phone broke or the battery popped but no I can’t find the reason or the cause to this but now I’m scared to charge my phone please someone tell me the cause of this

i reported the same problem earlier has anybody noticed after this problem has occurred during the charging the battery seems to be getting a lot hotter? ……going to Apple Monday to ask them to run an analysis on my phone it doesn’t feel safe anymore

Ok so this just happened to me too. Scrolling through FB for a while. Heard a loud electrical crackle and the phone rebooted. Very odd. Once rebooted the phone doesn’t feel hot but I did try to take a photo with flash and got a “too hot” message. IOS 15.6

They very cagey which means they no what’s causing the issue won’t say anything but the usual crap …..have you. Got the latest software have you tried rebooting blah blah blah they won’t admit the problem otherwise disclosing they are liable so it’s down to number of complaints in the right peoples ears

Same thing happened to me. I thought the phone was fried. I just finished depositing a check in my bank account. Took two pics of the check and as it was processing it crackled, pixelated and shut down. Any answers on this?

Just happened to me also! Watching a video on Facebook and then all of a sudden there was a loud crackling noise and large purple pixels all over the screen and then it rebooted. Scared the crap out of me!

Just happened to me. Was playing a song on Apple Music for my son. “Frying” sound happen, saw sparkles (now after reading the comments I realized it was on the screen) and immediately threw my phone because I swear I thought it was about to catch on fire. Apple sign came back up and phone turned on without problems. I’m at 98% battery. We pay so much money for Apple devices for this nonsense to be happening.

Wow. Im shocked it’s still an issue. What everyone has said happened to me too recently! Scared the heck out of me. I want to get rid of my iPhone 12. That’s not normal and doesn’t seem safe. Apple is only thinking of themselves and their profits and not about the people’s health if that thing blows.

I was scrolling insta reels and the screen just went dark with weird sound (like electric crack sounds) then apple logo appears after 5 seconds. Checked the battery life and it's still the same. But what just happened?!

Ok this just happened on my iPhone 12 Pro Max! Was on tiktok when it happened! Googled it and was actually surprised that it has happened to not only me!

I was just using WhatsApp and my battery level was above 50%. The phone made a crackling sound (like an electrical short) and the the phone went off. Next minute I kept pressing the power button to turn the phone on, and then it turned on and working fine. Is this a software issue or a hardware issue? And what does apple say about this?

Was scrolling through TikTok on iPhone 12 Pro and all of a sudden I heard a loud crackling popping noise and the screen went black. I immediately unplugged the charger cause I thought it was going to spark or something and then it rebooted. I’m surprised Apple hasn’t replied or issued recall. I hope it doesn’t ignite.

Wow!! Your post was a little over 2 years ago and it’s still happening. I seriously wondered what was going on. About five minutes before I smelled something funny, but my phone is actually cooler than normal and I’ve been in it for at least three hours. I wish I could find an answer to what’s happening and why it’s taking over two years to fix. Any reply would be better than none, although I must say your reply calmed my biggest fear about security. Did anyone else get a message that I’m sure was fake from Bank if America?

Same exact thing just happened to me. I have iPhone 12 pro. I was browsing in Nextdoor app and it made a loud static cracking sound. (sounded almost like old analog radios when you are moving from one station to another). The screen pixelated with all colors froze for like 15 seconds then rebooted.
