New MacBook Air (M1, 2020) crashing all the time!

New M1 MacBook Air keeps crashing and freezing... I can't force quit as the keyboard becomes unresponsive.

Help!

Anyone else out there struggling with this?

I keep checking for system updates but nothing yet...

Erased and reinstalled OS at last 10

times. Apple sent it off for repairs twice. They couldn’t find any issues but still replaced logic board and touchpad both times. It still came back with same problems of freezing as soon as I used keyboard or touchpad. I was without a usable machine for almost two months from I bought it new. Spent many hours on phone with Apple support who didn’t have a clue and passed me around, often never getting back to me. They constantly refused to exchange it even though it was obvious the machine was a dud. Eventually they relented and I finally got a replacement. It works fine just as it should. And that was on 11.1 I remain convinced it was a hardware issue.

(MBA base)hey i am not having any severe problems but i want to know if safari is kinda laggy while scrolling in your perfectly working mac not the ones that have freezing and crashing issue as that is something else . My problem here is very laggy scrolling while on websites like pinterest, twitter only in safari . Chrome seems to work fine.

I have got exactly the same issue with my Mac16gb (and over 1tb of internal storage). I would have expected no problems but I have unfortunately. When I create mails sometimes they are not being send and not stored in my drafts as well while trying to close the program after waiting quite a while. Quite disappointing for a Mac of over 2200 euro ... Anyone an idea for a mail program (not outlook) that does work on the M1 chip and also synchronizes perfectly with my other apple devices (iPhone 12 Pro / iPad Pro / iMac)?

I find this hilarious. All the recommendations of only using certain software to make a $2,000 machine run properly. It makes apple hardware sound very delicate and fragile. “Soft software only please!” 9 pages of comments and no response from apple yet? I returned my MacBook Pro m1. Thankfully was still in the return period. I would buy it again, but I would need an acknowledgment from apple that whatever these issues are, have been addressed.

My MacBook Air, also bought in 2020, consistently crashes within 10 minutes of trying to edit Photos. Anyone else? This is particularly disappointing after 20 years of MacBook Pros with which I can never recall this happening. I replaced the Air within a month having bought it. I have had the same problem with 2 MacBook Airs in a row now

Any suggestions?

My M1 MacBook Air has been freezing on me as well. I've only had it 9 days. The dock locked up on me on day two, I had to force shut down the computer. I've had to force shut it down at least once a day since. It's frozen on me using chrome, pages, imessage and mail and nothing else. Editing video in iMovie has been an F'ing nightmare, I'm lucky if I get three consecutive minutes of work completed before it completely freezes up on me. I'm pretty frustrated and disappointed because the reviews I watched stated it handled video editing fine. It also has the same processor as the new Pro so there shouldn't be an issue. Furthermore, I'm having a problem with Apple apps not third party programs (aside from Chrome). Are these duds?

i got a new bug yesterday... if you move the mouse too quickly after the login before the screen is fully refreshed, the cursor freeze at a place on the screen but the mouse is still moving (you can click and move an invisible cursor)... interesting one ... just happened after a fresh reinstall of the macbook pro... make sure to wait until the screen fully refresh after login to avoid it ... looks like an old car ... need to warm up :)

Bought a macbook pro m1 1TB 16GB bc I wasnt completely happy with my PC. The Mac has crashed twice in under 5 minutes. It's my second day with it and crashed while closing Rekordbox DJ software and then again when ejecting my external hard drive.

I thought I was having issues with my PC but the lenovo never crashes even when processing heavy workloads and w/o a restart in weeks. Will likely return the mac which is unfortunate bc it is beautiful. Will give it another week to see if there are any more crashes
