iphone 12 Pro Max Still Ringing in Silent Mode

Mine is still ringing in silent mode with new update. It seems to be randomly not all calls and i have the iphone 12 pro max very annoying! Have had more issues with this phone then any other iphone. Like glass scratching easily never had one single scratch on my iphone 11 pro max i traded in for this one and the first week i had it a scratch right on the face not noticeable with screen protector on but i know and thats enough! My phones are always in perfect condition and now the ringing on silent mode very annoying!🤔

How disgusting you spend so much money to buy iPhone 12 Max pro ! and then you have problem like this , and still this issue is not fixed , I was in a meeting in a recording studio, while recording my phone on silent , ringing , how bad is this !!!!!!!!!! www.gtrrecordingstudio.com and we lost a good take ! because of the stupid iPhone !

I made the same. I transferred my data from XS Max to 12 Pro Max side by side and I have the same problem. I made a factory reset with recovery mode and installed everything from scratch as if it is a new phone then transferred red some photos from my iPad to my phone by Airdrop and the problem still exists. My phone sometimes wakes me up early and bother me in my meetings.

I recently upgraded my iPhone 12 Pro Max 512GB (AT&T) to iOS 14.4 the day it came out. I put my phone on Silent every night. This morning, my phone rang and it woke me up. It was a call whose Caller ID showed “Telemarketer” (something AT&T automatically does or it’ll show Spam Call). I verified my ringer was set to silent and of course wondered like everyone else here why my phone rang any way. I spent 30 minutes looking at various setting and couldn’t figure out why other than to conclude that Apple better fix this.

I think we should post on twitter i have done all methods suggested by apple care as well and its brand new iphone 12 still the issue is same even they are not resolving it and accepting that it issue in update or hardware so we should raise this issue globally because for this kind of **** we didn’t that much amount of money. If we are not getting service then what’s the point to pay that amount of money for this ****... very disappointed this time

I totally agree that this needs to be brought to Apple‘s attention in a different format since posting on this site does not seem to bring about any resolution. I myself have not tried resetting all settings in that I read on at least two occasions in this thread that that did not work. This phone was way too expensive to be dealing with this issue.

I realize I’m completely revealing my ignorance here, but what do you mean by reinstalling the update via your laptop? Do you mean using a hard cable through iTunes and connecting your phone to your laptop that way?

I'm having the same issue. It's completely random for me. Some numbers it'll ring while silent sometimes and other times it won't. Apple told me "that is already being investigated by our technicians. We're working on it and our next updates will probably fix the issue." That was 2/16. I'm not sure if there has been any updates since then, but it's still doing it.

My 12 pro max is doing this too. Only noticed today and have had this phone I a few weeks. I guess - due to lockdown no need since always at home!

Think I’m going to return the phone and repurchase in a few months. Hopefully once Apple have resolved all of the issues including this one (whether due to hardware or software). It’s a real lockdown phone - so many small bugs / problems.

I just updated to 14.4.1 and it still rings on silent. I even turned off silent mode and turned the ringer volume to very low. When this “thing” happens it rings at full volume, even though regular calls come through at the reduced volume. Very frustrating

I am on day two of resetting all settings, I will keep everyone posted! And even though it was somewhat laborious getting everything back, it was actually a nice opportunity to learn more about my phone.

It's mid-March and this issue embarrassed me twice while I was doing virtual speeches. In each case the calling number was all numbers and I had the silent button on silent. I would like a fix for this.

Did the settings reset remove all folders, change applications settings and passwords? Should I make the shortcuts from scratch? Should I setup all emails from scratch?

please note that I did Erase all contents and settings before and the problem didn’t disappear.

I was also intimidated & frustrated at the thought of doing it, but I actually had become complacent regarding all of the features and settings that are available & learned a great deal about my phone during the process. I realize that this sounds a bit Pollyanna-esque, but it also seems to have fixed the problem for me so far.🙏🏻

Today I sat down for a virtual appearance. I set my iPhone 12 Pro on the desk, in silent mode, knowing that it might ring anyway. It did ring during my presentation and I held it up, showing the audience that it was in silent mode and I sort of bad-mouthed Apple about it. I do not want to go through the whole reset thing just to see if it might help. The phone doesn't ring every day so even if I go a week or 2 with no ringing, that's normal and the problem might still be there. I'm sorry that Apple is so unresponsive about this. You all know how disruptive and annoying and sometimes embarrassing this is.
