iphone 12 Pro Max Still Ringing in Silent Mode

This is not the way Apple was intended to be. How can it take so long to fix such a major problem that so many of us are experiencing. Just tonight, again, my phone rang while in silent mode. This time it was a call from my wife but all the others so far were just numbers (not contacts). I have held off from the standard suggestion from Apple, which is to Reset your iPhone settings. What a hassle, and those that did it report that the problem persists. I'm in a super busy period so I haven't been able to call the internal IS&T support team yet, but if there is an explanation of the software fix, I'm sure we would have heard it on this forum by now.

I have the 12 mini and I have the same issue! And what’s even more frustrating is that it’s intermittent. Sometimes calls are silent, sometimes not. Sometimes it’s a contact that rings; other times it’s not. Apple, please fix soon! This is a huge issue...

Same situation on my iphone 11 pro

Some numbers still ringing on when silent mode is turned on & those numbers are neither on my favourites list, nor emergency bypass is turned on

It;s really annoying....

I’ve been having sounds of various kinds bypass silent mode since 13. The ringing on silent is just one of many nuisances. I had to turn haptics off and notifications in individual app settings, and I still get pings or shutter sounds from the photo app or facebook messenger at random. Apple has not offered any useful help.

My iPhone 12 Pro is ringing in silent and even on silent and in “do not disturb” mode. Definitely inconvenient to have to turn my BRAND NEW PHONE completely off in class to keep it from ringing when it’s not suppose to. Apple really needs to figure this glitch out and fix it!

I have the same issue and im currently updating to iOS 14.4.2. Its such a hassle having my phone restore to factory settings. Ive read from other users it didnt work. Anyone here with an alternative troubleshooting method? Thanks in advance.

I had previously tried everything except resetting the settings and it was still happening. I will keep you posted as to whether this resolves it. I still think Apple needs to address or at least acknowledge the glitch.

I have the Iphone 11 Pro, and the thing wont stop wringing. I have followed all of your steps. I have it on silent, and I still manage to hear all of my phone calls! I look like a moron in meetings and when I go to yoga. I have resorted to putting my phone on airplane mode.

HELP APPLE! It isnt good enough that we pay through the nose for your products, but you can't even get them to work correctly.

While we are at it, please fix the bluetooth, it continues to disconnect at random with all of my 4 cars. SUCKS ***!

I have a 12 pro max and thought I was the only one having this issue. All of the sudden, my phone is ringing while on silent. Now I’m going to need to have my phone off during work if this “ringing while on silent” issue isn’t resolved. This is very expensive phone that I’ve only had for 4 months. I’ve done all the restarts and checked phone numbers for settings that allow ringing while on silent. Any plans to fix this?

i have that same questino when it is in the silence mode it rings why? we have it on silence for reasons it shouldn't ring so how do we fix this problem i have noticed this since the upgrade on the 12pro max and the 10xr as well.

Same here. Phone rigns when is set on vibration/silent. Calendar does not sync; and I can't find particular dates.And Bluetooth does not connect some items. Is updated and I took my phone to best Buy and they could not help.

Im glad to see someone actually read through the posts and took the advice myself and others have said worked! Not to bad of a fix option could be worse. I know we shouldnt have to do this with the money we paid for these phones but im glad mine doesnt ring anymore while on silent. Ill take it!

I am having the same problem, it’s ridiculous can anyone confirm if 14.5 fixes this problem or not? Firstly had this issue on iPhone 11 Pro Max changed it to iPhone 12 Pro Max this issue still there, I have also tried resetting the setting doesn’t help.

I have been dealing with it for 2 weeks with no help from Apple. I was also told when I bought my 12 Pro Max that the Sim card will "Not" work in my unlocked 6 Plus S I use for traveling to Asia. I asked if the Sims are a different size and told no! but I needed to go to AT&T to get a special Sim card... I was told I may miss calls or not be able to text or receive VM if I tried my 12 Pro Card in my 6Plus S. I have a old 3, 5, 5s, all unlocked never had any issues before. The only thing needed was to get a Nano card drawer for my old iPhone 3 they had full size cards

My 12 pro is doing the same thing. The silent switch is definitely engaged and yet sometimes when I receive a call it’s still rings. This is unacceptable as I am in court quite a bit, and will upset it judge if I get a phone call during court.
