A crack has appeared in the screen of my 12 Pro this evening.

it definitely wasn’t there this afternoon and the phone hasn’t been dropped or bumped. No chip at the screen edge, just a crack towards the middle.

I just notice mine is ‘cracking’ as well. Did apple help you out willingly? I don’t live anywhere near an Apple store so a replacement would have to be done by mail.

Cracks are so small. I could only see them under light and a specific angle.

That said. It’s a $1,500 CAD phone.

This design choice/flaw should have been disclosed up front so necessary precautions could be taken. I upgraded from a 6s. Prior to that I had 6, SE, 5, 3. I've never used a case or a screen protector (I dislike the bulk, the look and feel) and I've never had a cracked screen or a scratch. Just worn out batteries.

Take that up with Apple. We don't work for Apple and none of us had anything to do with the design of iPhone. The last phone I purchased which I stupidly didn't put a screen protector on was iPhone 6. It got all scratched with normal use, so no phone I've owned since hasn't had a screen protector.

So you are suggesting your screen became scratched UNDERNEATH a screen protector? You do understand that is physically impossible? And the assertion iPhone screens are becoming scratched underneath a glass screen protector is patently rediculous.

That’s my point. Nothing has happened to my phone that would cause damage and that is what these other folks are saying. That’s why I got on this forum was to see if anyone else was having a similar problem. I have never used screen protectors on any of my previous phones and have never had an issue like this. I just don’t appreciate someone implying that it’s my fault.

Good for you. If you think Samsung phones are problem free, that's great. I don't recall an iPhone ever blowing up on an airplane, but what do I know.

This is a user to user only forum. As users only, it really doesn't matter to us what phone you think best meets your needs.

I’m not sure Samsung is any better. My husband was a diehard Samsung user and his last 2 were duds. Had to be constantly replaced with charging issues. He’s extremely careful with his phones as well. He went to an LG because he refuses to pay the price on these expensive phones with all their issues. I’ll be a diehard Apple fan til the end but very unhappy with the 12 Pro Max. I got it for all the amazing photos since I’m into photography and my XS Max took better photos. I am digging the RAW ability but doesn’t do much good if the phone won’t focus where you want it to.

Agreed. I bought the phone with Ceramic Shield, AppleCare, Apple case, and there’s an entire campaign showing iPhone users dropping their phones. I’ve done everything suggests so I don’t think I should be scrutinized nor should I have to pay for the replacement

Nope. Because the impact was above the speaker, not directly at the screen protector. I am not saying you lied at all. But the damage clearly points to an impact. Whether you were there at the time of impact or not. Apple is simply never going to replace that screen for free. I understand you're disappointed, but that phone sustained damage, whether you did it yourself or not.

Mine happened spontaneously also. Once I dropped my iPhone 8 Plus in my driveway, the screen cracked and I felt like a loser but ultimately owned up to it and paid the full amount to have it replaced. This time NOTHING justified it getting cracked. I did not drop it, sit on it or bang it into anything.

I have appointments booked, and call backs organised.
