iphone 12 pro screen cracking

Is anyone else experiencing their iPhone 12 Pro screen cracking for no apparent reason? I am on my 3rd iPhone 12 Pro because my first two developed screen cracks within 2 weeks of using. Apple swapped out both phone so it didn't cost me anything other than hassle but I can't imagine Apple will continue to swap out my iPhone into perpetuity. I've used iPhones for 13 years and never had a screen crack or chip. I've never had an extended warranty because I've never had a repair. I always use the Apple leather case and I work in an office. iPhone was not dropped. Cracks just showed up. Also, this has happened to my wife, son and daughter as well. One son's iPhone 12 Pro has not cracked.

I don’t consider it complaining. It is merely trying to see if anyone else has the same issue and if it is indeed an issue . My bet is that most people don’t clean and inspect there screen as I do. When I call Apple it will be more effective to have them admit there is an issue because of the number of people complaining. I never even knew this forum existed until I did a search for iPhone 12 stress crack. Have a nice evening and don’t take it personally . Thank you

Thanks for the link Lobsterman, it is helpful. Would you believe the first phone that I sent in that was less than two weeks old was returned no-problem -found? It took photos and phone calls after that to get it resolved . Apple is a great company to work with and their agents extremely helpful and polite. Sometime after that point you may encounter a lack of communication . Then the system goes to pieces . This forum to me is a place to find people with like issues and resolutions. In no way would I expect it to become

combative. Enjoy

I did indeed. You came here for resolutions. I get that. But since every single person is a user just like you, they don't have the ability to provide ANY resolution to you for a cracked screen. They don't work for Apple. They can't determine if you have a defect or you have accidental damage. ONLY Apple can do that. And Apple isn't here on this forum. Apple isn't reading these posts. Apple won't respond to you. Just other users, none of whom can do anything for you.

You have a good night as well. Be careful as you're bordering on "polling" here in this forum, which is a violation of the Terms of Use you agreed to when you joined. I've been here over a decade, so I know the forum very well. It doesn't really matter how many people you find with an issue in your investigation. Apple takes care of things on an individual basis so "gathering facts" or in this case finding other users won't really carry much weight with Apple.

Good luck to you.

Thanks for the update. I am going to live with this tiny crack until it either gets larger or Apple puts out a bulletin. It is not convenient to visit the local Apple store and the other service approved repair stores in my opinion are not as expertise. It is a inconvenience any way you look at it.

Not seeing this forum flooded with similar complaints I am believing I should take lobsterghost’s advice and not participate on this forum.

Thanks for the help and advice from all.

I do have some other questions, such as my new 12pro has decided to eliminate one of my major contacts from a smooth messaging experience. Only one out out my 400 clients. If you can direct me to a forum that has idea's and solutions similar I would appreciate it. I have found one featuring messaging but none that list this specific issue. I know the forum laws say we must stay on topic but since you most likely are every where, I know you will send me off to the right forum. Thanks. This topic seems to have run its course in my humble opinion.

There was no chip out of the back glass on my 12 Pro. Further, I have the phone in a protective case, with a glass screen protector.

Why did the back crack instead of the front?

And why do the cracks radiate outward less than an inch directly above the power jack all still covered by my case where there is no scratch at all in the case that would evidence any possible fulcrum effect to cause such a breakage?

lastly, why is there a faint rainbow hue along the perimeter of the glass visible under certain light conditions?

thank you in advance, Jamie

Well, I was scolded by a very regular poster on apple threads for basically inquiring if anyone else had the same situation. He-she insinuated I was polling. He/she also stated that apple doesn’t participate in these threads. Maybe he/she or better known as lobsterghost1 would be kind enough to enlighten us on what it really means to post on these forums . Thank you in advance lobsterghost1.

Sure.

These forums are hosted by Apple for user to user technical support. Apple does not participate in the sense that they will not get involved in any of the discussions at all. If a poster asks a question, which goes unanswered for 24 hours and can be answered with a standard Apple response, like a link on how to update your phone, etc., a Community Specialist will provide a response. Otherwise Apple doesn't answer questions, read these posts, or get involved in this user to user only forum. Apple Engineering does not participate in this forum at all either.

The poster you responded to wondered why Apple isn't commenting. Apple never comments on this forum. EVER.

There are forum moderators who read these posts for violation of the Terms of Use everyone agreed to when joining the forum. If the moderator determines a post violates those terms, they can and will edit the content of a post or is in total violation, remove the entire post.

The time you are referring to as being scolded is not actually correct. You asked for people to report back to you on whatever it was you asked at the time, which is polling and is in fact a violation of the terms of use. I didn't scold you. I told you to be careful as polling is against forum rules.

I knew you would be out there lobsterghost1. I dropped off because of the fact that apple, as you said, does not respond . It has been quite a while and I am amazed how many people have experienced cracks since then. I would suspect the average person doesn’t go to an apple forum to post a complaint about a crack.

Anyway, thanks for the quick response lobsterghost1. You have very helpful input.

Enjoy the weekend!

You have a great weekend as well. I would think however, this being the largest iPhone forum in the world, and the fact that Apple has now sold millions upon millions upon millions of iPhone 12 models, if this was a big issue, we'd see this thread and forum flooded with many many more complaints. We're not though. If you counted the number of unique posts to this thread, the number of posters would be statistically a teeny tiny number of users compared to the number of phones out there.

Trust me. When there is an issue effecting lots of users, this forum can blow up with complaints.
