iphone 12 pro screen cracking

Is anyone else experiencing their iPhone 12 Pro screen cracking for no apparent reason? I am on my 3rd iPhone 12 Pro because my first two developed screen cracks within 2 weeks of using. Apple swapped out both phone so it didn't cost me anything other than hassle but I can't imagine Apple will continue to swap out my iPhone into perpetuity. I've used iPhones for 13 years and never had a screen crack or chip. I've never had an extended warranty because I've never had a repair. I always use the Apple leather case and I work in an office. iPhone was not dropped. Cracks just showed up. Also, this has happened to my wife, son and daughter as well. One son's iPhone 12 Pro has not cracked.

I have this problem as well. I'm on my 2nd iPhone 12 Pro and there are cracks AND scratches. The first phone got a crack completely across the bottom of the phone without being dropped. I haven't dropped this one either but a crack in the bottom left and a scratch across the left side. No clue where they came from.

It's nice you are all in agreement. At the end of the day that gets you nothing. Only Apple can agree there is a defect in the glass. And if they agree, they'll cover it under warranty. But if they don't agree, which is very likely, they won't and you'll have to pay for the glass to be replaced.

Also, when you buy the forum, you can tell what I'm permitted to say. This is not a forum where only people who agree with each other are permitted to comment.

The reason we discuss it here is because we want to know if it’s happened to other people and there are similar cases. Of course we have also contacted Apple directly, but this gives us an idea of how common this issue is. Ever heard of support groups? This is just to know that we are not alone in the very strange thing that happened to our phone.

So Jolly, what do you think anyone here, can say that is useful? Nobody here works for Apple. Sorry, you don't like an honest assessment, which is nothing more than take your phone to Apple and they'll determine what they will do about it. Otherwise, when you buy the forum, you can tell me what I can say. Until then you can't. I have as much right to post here as you do.

I purchased an iPhone 12 pro on Thursday, May 6th at the local AT&T store in Boulder, CO. I was given the phone in the original shrink wrap (unopened) and told to take it home and transfer the data myself. I took the phone home and started the data transfer when I noticed that the screen was cracked on the phone. The next day, Friday, I took the phone back to the store and asked to have it exchanged under the fourteen day customer satisfaction guarantee. I was told that the phone could not be exchanged because it was damaged. After numerous trips back and forth the to the store and numerous calls to the AT&T loyalty department, I was told that my only option was to take the phone to a repair shop and pay the $29.00 to have the screen replaced. I was also told (by the AT&T store manager) that they had never heard of problems with iPhone 12 pro screens cracking on their own, which seems not to be true. I am continuing to work on having this phone replaced because I have been sold defective merchandise, but I want my name added to the list of people who have experienced this problem. Apple has a problem here and they need to step up, own it and fix it.

My appointment was virtual, since we’re in lockdown here in ON, Canada. I sent a pic of my unexplained screen crack and they basically told me that type of damage is not covered under their 1yr limited warranty so I’d have to pay $429cdn +tax to fix it. Sooooo disappointed since I did not cause the damage and that is a lot of money for just a screen :( I thought the iPhone 12 Pro Max was supposed to be next to indestructible but it somehow cracked without being dropped, sat on or banged on after only 5 months :(

My iPhone 12 is barely 6 weeks old. I have my phone in a clear protective case with a glass screen protector. I had not drop my phone. Yesterday I noticed the back had cracked to pieces. The front is untouched. How does the back crack with a protective case on it while the front remained intact and I scratched? FWIW, I can see a tiny point from which all the cracks radiate from. This is not quite an inch from the bottom center of the phone and just above where the USBc rests inside the phone while charging. There is NO mark/scratch on the outside of the the clear case directly over this pattern so I can rule out any external piece of debris acting as a fulcrum.

I agree no case will protect from scratches, but i have owned 7 new IPhones, which were well looked after. I always keep keys and coins in a separate pockets and never had a deep scratched screen.

This so called Ceramic Shield screen has to be the worst ever. 4 weeks old to be told at the Apple store its a scratch, especially after being so careful with my phone.

Something is certainly wrong.
