iphone 12 pro screen cracking

Is anyone else experiencing their iPhone 12 Pro screen cracking for no apparent reason? I am on my 3rd iPhone 12 Pro because my first two developed screen cracks within 2 weeks of using. Apple swapped out both phone so it didn't cost me anything other than hassle but I can't imagine Apple will continue to swap out my iPhone into perpetuity. I've used iPhones for 13 years and never had a screen crack or chip. I've never had an extended warranty because I've never had a repair. I always use the Apple leather case and I work in an office. iPhone was not dropped. Cracks just showed up. Also, this has happened to my wife, son and daughter as well. One son's iPhone 12 Pro has not cracked.

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 14

That did not just happen. Even in a case, that phone was dropped and sustained a hard impact. The back glass on iPhone cannot be replaced as it is fused to the phone. It will not be covered under warranty as accidental damage is not covered. You will be offered an Out of Warranty replacement at about 60% of the cost of the phone when new. If you invested in AppleCare+ , the replacement cost is significantly less, but again, only if you paid for that.

Sorry, but you are saying that I am lying? Did you watch what I did?

If my phone fell, would the screen protector not be scratched, cracked or damaged? My glass screen protector is complete with zero damage.

As I posted earlier, watched fb videos, placed my phone face up on the desk, so I could continue to watch the videos as I packed up my stuff, picked up the phone from the desk and the screen was cracked.

The phone is in mint condition and is virtually brand new, this is a glass defect.

I have said and stated, for the 3rd time now... the phone was not damaged, it was placed down on my desk, for literally 2 minute, not left on its own, picked it back up and it was cracked.

The phone has not been impacted by anything, as you are so confident about.

i would love to hear you theory of what kind of impact can be so precise to only damage the glass at the speaker, and not crack the glass screen protector mm’s away from it?

someone used a hammer and nail?

You do realise glass can have defects?

I'm grateful for the feedback from other Apple consumers sharing their experiences about real problems but it stinks they get blamed when they do. Clearly the screen cracking is a huge issue that none of us ever experienced before as longtime Apple consumers. Why would we make it up?? Something to consider: after my iphone 6 died after a long and bumpy no crack life, I got talked into trying into Samsung 21. No only did it not crack after 3 months, I tripped and fell 3 times (in a 3 week period, so embarrasing!) with the Samsung in my running tights thigh pocket and it did not crack. May be a lesson learned that I should stick with an alternative product so I don't have to pay for screen replacements or monthly insurance bills and deductibles.

I agree no case will protect from scratches, but i have owned 7 new IPhones, which were well looked after. I always keep keys and coins in a separate pockets and never had a deep scratched screen.

This so called Ceramic Shield screen has to be the worst ever. 4 weeks old to be told at the Apple store its a scratch, especially after being so careful with my phone.

Something is certainly wrong.

I’m a 56 year old person that has a screen protector and a Otter phone case. My I 12pro has developed a crack in the screen also. My phone doesn’t go in back pocket I hold it or it is secured when driving. I also don’t drive very often. I was shocked to see it had cracked. I’ve had a iPhone since 3s. They all had glass screens. I was under the impression that I12 used something else other than glass. I’m very disappointed. And no there are no chips !!!!!!

This happened to me too - owned iphone 12 mini 2 weeks, never dropped, was in a case and screen protector, etc. Based on my experience and that of so many others, I agree it seems like it must be some sort of internal hardware/material stress or force. And if so, any thoughts that adding a screen protector may aggravate whatever is going on internally, and make a stress fracture more likely?? I got a replacement phone and am debating whether to install the new screen protector that I purchased before my new phone arrived. I didn't have a screen protector on my iphone 6 and it lived a long rough life with no screen trouble. I'm wondering if everyone who has had screen cracking also had a screen protector installed?

Coming here is like visiting a hospital and believing every person on the planet is sick. iPhone 12 has been out now for months. The number of unique users who have posted they have an issue with the screen cracking on this, the most visited iPhone forum in the world is statistically insignificant compared to the millions upon millions upon millions of iPhone 12 phones being used around the world with no screen cracks at all.

If you are referring to scratches, EVERY iPhone ever sold has had loads of complaints from people who are shocked their phones screen scratched. Glass scratches, period. The person who someday creates glass which is harder to shatter AND scratch will become one of the richest people on the planet. To date, that glass formula has not been invented. Hence why screen protectors is big business and most people who recognize they spent nearly $1000 on a phone are happy to spend a few dollars more to protect their expensive investment.

Thanks again for the input Lobsterman, I would like to gather all the facts possible and then help determine if this is possibly a design flaw. I mean to tell you, you wouldn’t notice it if I didn’t hold the phone at the right angle to see or if you were not feeling it with your finger(claw). I have been extremely loyal to apple with so many apple products. This just seems out of character for apple to have a problem with two phones exact at the same place. I switched from pc’s to macs years ago and won’t look back . Apple is the king of reliable products and this I believe is something they would not be happy with if they knew I was not the only one that has the problem. So far I have not been able to determine anyone else has the identical issue so that is why I am trying to bring it to light if it is in fact an issue or just my bad luck. I don’t know if you are familiar with the iPhone 10 screen jiggle. I had to go through a bunch of bs because when I took it on for repair it wouldn’t replicate the issue. I ultimately took videos of the screen presenting the issue and found the right apple rep to get the screen replaced . It’s not always as cut and dry as showing someone.

I really am looking for people with the same issue to help Apple determine if there is a real

issue. Have a great night.

I'm very loyal to iPhone and have never had a cracked screen; but I also use LifeProof cases! My iPhone 12 Pro is only 3 weeks old and has been in a life proof case since I bought it! Tonight I was cleaning my phone and was about to put it back into its case when I noticed a little air bubble looking crack underneath the screen. The phone has not been dropped and I know this is definitely a problem Apple needs to address. Thank you for the help!

I have had my iPhone 12 PM develop a hair line crack from the speaker towards the power button…screen protector, Mous phone cover since the moment I purchased the phone nothing marked and phone has never been dropped there is definitely something a miss with screen my wife’s happened a few months ago similar area she blamed the children but we are now thinking maybe that wasn’t the reason.
