I just bought the newest M1 chip MacBook pro in January 2021, and I found out my mouse is not working (normally occurs when I just opened up the mac). I am not using any bluetooth or wiring mouse, only the trackpad....
I guess it was the trackpad that is having problem...is there anything I can do to fix it...?

I had exactly the same problem - and also had a problem with my password not being recognised, even though it was correct. I spent two hours on the phone to apple support (and spoke to three different people), who didn't know how to resolve the problem as they hadn't heard of anyone else with this issue. I also spent 5 hours reinstalling BigSur, which made no difference. I was told I would have to purchase an external hard drive to transfer data to, wipe the machine, then reinstall everything. Feeling very frustrated, and not wishing to fork out money for something that wasn't my fault, I did a bit of research (macforum was good) and this seems to work (I haven't had a frozen cursor for a couple of weeks now)...
I hope this is useful - it's a bit annoying this is an issue (and not just for me, it seems), bearing in the mind it's a brand new machine and expensive...!
I'm using M1 MacBook Pro which I bought in Jan 2021.
I think I'm having a similar problem with my trackpad...occasionally the mouse (trackpad) having issue on scrolling & also on 3 fingers tap (look up wordings)!
Is it due to MacOS or hardware issue?
Very annoying creaking sound on trackpad; particularly when using Logic.
Trackpad also intermittently not responding or sometimes randomly moving or highlighting items on desktop when not selected.
Brand new MacBook M1 2020. Same fault on 2 new machines.
It is now August, 2021, I am still having problems with my Apple M1 trackpad.
This cost a lot of money Apple.
Please provide support or a replacement for these machines.
I bought this because I wanted to have the latest and greatest for once.
However, half the time, I miss my old MacBook Pro simply because the track pad didn't freeze along with other keyboard issues.
Same here. the trackpad and keyboard stop working after just 20 mins of use and even before that if I close the lid. So not even restarting is helping nor is safe mode.

Also having the same issue but more serious. Both the trackpad and keyboard are not working. No haptics and capslock not lighting up. The only thing working is the power button and the fingerprint sensor. Suspecting a hardware problem as there’s no recent software update or installation. Appointment’s tmr. Hopefully will get it fixed..
btw, MacBook Air M1 (8gb ram, 512gb storage)
After having the Mac for a week or so, this issue has abated somewhat. I still get it if I use the laptop on my chest while lying down though.

Battery life is definitely great on an M1 - of that you can be certain.
im running big sur 11.2.1 and when I turn my Mac book pro on and log in my curser doesn't respond at all . I have to keep my finger on the power to reboot any help ??

I guess what he/she mean was to upgrade the operating system. I did so under the instruction from apple technical service. However, it doesn't help to address this issue.
Apple does not responded to this. They should. Maybe point to this thread.
I went from defective air to macbook pro. Now Im worried all over again.
I owned it almost one month. Look like impossible to exchange. Even if apple offers an exchange, I don’t think the same issue will not occur on another mac
