Apple logo flash at startup

New iPhone 12 Pro. At startup the Apple logo flashes super bright for a brief second then the screen goes dark for about 10 seconds before the Apple Logo re appears at normal brightness to finish the startup. I’ve had iPhones for years and never had the logo turn on and then off during startup. Is that Normal for the 12?

My iphone 12 pro’s Apple logo flashing once bright on startup, goes dark, then after a few seconds comes back on and boots up. I am super annoyed. Been waiting 4 months for this phone and now this!!! So earlier this week I went and Bought a second device(iphone 12pro) and it was fine untill i had to charge the battery, and BOOM!!! now my 2nd device is also flashing apple logo on startup. So i have 2 brand new iphone 12 pro’s that’s both got this issue! i am so worn out and just drained dealing with this! No one can give me answers. The

technicians at istore ruled it as a hardware issue. Saying its the motherboard or logic board that is faulty; Yet after Numerous calls to “apple support” sending them videos and reports from the technicians, they say their engineers are working on it and that they dont have answers yet...? But its been reported since January by hundreds!!! How can the leading engineers at a company or rather an “tech. empire” like “apple” not be able to figure this out ???

I am super disappointed with this experience. Must say I’ve never thought I’d see the day where an apple product would give me this type of hassle! Especially not a high end iphone! I personally think they know what the problem is but trying to sweep it under the carpet and not get a couple million end users in uproar if the truth goes public/viral.

very unhappy, disgusted and disappointed customer.

What you see is a minor cosmetic glitch. It in no way affects the operation of the phone; it’s just that the startup process neglected to shut off the screen while booting. Word on the street is that the next version of iOS will fix it. However, even it it is fixed by disabling the screen during startup, you will know in your heart that the Apple logo will appear twice, you just won’t see the first instance because the screen will be off.

There is no backlight on OLED displays.

LCD displays have a backlight and the LCD blocks various amounts of light from the backlight from being seen.

OLED displays have individual LEDs that light up to present a picture.

If it bothers you, make an appointment to have Apple Support look at it.

It’s kind of a characteristic of OLED; it can handle off well and mid to high brightness well but it doesn’t do dark greys without banding.

OLED TVs have long had the same issue.

I think its weird for one phone to do it and the other not. My iphone 11 pro has none if this crap happening.

if its a motherboard issue and needs replacement, then the phone lyterally needs to be stripped into pieces to get to it. Its really sad to see all the people on here. I think theres millions more that have this issue but dont even know about it.

this is probably why apple delayed the launch for so long. Now they still conned us by selling a faulty product to millions of people.

me too ... I have to actually hit the power button twice ... the first time the logo briefly flashes and then it doesn’t start ... then I hit it again and it boots.

That means that your phone has some other problem. If the Apple logo just appears twice and the phone then starts and operates normally (perhaps up to 30 seconds later) without further intervention then it is working normally. If it doesn’t start on its own after pressing the Side button just once and waiting long enough there is some other problem that is unrelated to the Apple logo appearing twice.

the issue on a new phone for me doesn’t start until the PHONE is charged to 100%. I have tried several different new phones and after restoring iCloud backup either by phone or PC, it DOES NOT do it. I did this last night on a new phone and turned it on and off several times and it didn’t do it. I put my new phone on the charger and charged to 100 percent and then tried it again and the logo flashed. IT DID not do it until I charged my brand new phone to 100. This has happened to two different phones.

Has everyone tried to leave alone after the initial flash and then returned a minute later?

I did that on the advice of several people here and I see that it has started before after the initial flash and following dark screen I kept pushing the on button. But on the advice of a few here, I left alone snd looked at less than a minute later, and the phone is on.

So I’m advising everyone here to try that first. Because as they said it’s only cosmetic then.

I previously wrote that I went in to get a upgrade, and I wanted to get the iPhone 12. So I went in and got my iPhone 12, set it up and after everything was set up, I got the same thing, the apple logo flash. I took the phone back, got a new phone set it up, and it did the same thing and I took it back for a second time and got a new phone for the third time and I set the phone up for the third time and it did the same thing. I decide to leave it there because other than the flashing logo the phone works great. Now my problem is, not all of the people that post or discuss is from the US. I am from South Africa and the people here is full of ___ when it comes to returning a phone. I did it 3 times and after the third time I thought ____this I’ll wait if there’s a fix coming out then I’ll update. I mean, I had 3 phones that did exactly the same thing.

I am writing from China.

I have the same issue on my very new iPhone 12 Pro with iOS 14.4.

Yesterday I went to (official) apple store and showed them the flash bootup screen. In reply their genius said "about 70% percent of iPhone 12 shipped with this issue and they cannot guarantee that the replaced device would be free of that issue."

They have also added that "they think it's a software problem which apple will fix soon"

But me personally feel like it's a hardware issue, cause other models of iPhone running iOS 14.4 without any issue.

If it's happened to be that (hardware) problem, what's the solution for us (general users)?????

Mar 14, 2021 5:30 AM in response to MasumCN

regardless the issue is software or hardware, no official feedback from Apple, no support from apple customer services, no responses from feedback communication, we are just able to write here which is not helping us. I already escalated the issue ministry of commerce in Saudi Arabia for Arab Computers as they are not able to fix the issue in warranty time frame passed and no response from them as well. They push me to take the faulty iphone without fixation or replacement or refund.

so we are stucked and forcing by Apple to wait with new sw upgrades which we dont know this issue will be fixed and no timeplan ot announcement even for it.
