Apple logo flash at startup

New iPhone 12 Pro. At startup the Apple logo flashes super bright for a brief second then the screen goes dark for about 10 seconds before the Apple Logo re appears at normal brightness to finish the startup. I’ve had iPhones for years and never had the logo turn on and then off during startup. Is that Normal for the 12?

Brand new iPhone 12 pro max (bought March 15). After two days I experienced my first big crash. Actually it is my first iphone crash ever. The Camera app froze, and after closing it i would not load again, and neither the Settings menu. I tried a force restart and after some time I got the dreaded "Flashing Apple Logo". Out of curiosity I took a look at the Analytics log and noticed many crash logs named "Stacks" and "Jetsam", just after a few days owning it. To compare, I took a look at my late iphone 11 logs and it shows a grand total of 0 crash logs of the like on the 12PM.

Besides this crash and those many failure logs, the phone seems to perform fine. Battery is ok but not much better than the older iphone 11 though...

Seems pointless exchanging the phone when an update will fix it!

Correct. To be clear, if you hold the Side button until the first Apple logo appears, and then release it, and the phone starts normally 15-30 seconds later without any further action on your part your phone is working as designed, and this is just an annoying glitch in the boot-up process. If the phone has any other symptoms they should be reported to Apple using the Get Support link at the top of this page. Any other issues are unrelated to the double-logo appearance, and should be dealt with separately.

Pressing the Side button several times won’t cause any issues, but it’s the equivalent of pressing the same floor button in an elevator several times.

What’s happening is the logo isn’t staying on until the phone restarts, like its supposed to. Rather than flashing - going off, and coming back on - it should come on and stay on until the lock screen appears. It’s not a major bug, just a quirk in the startup process. The phone is taking no longer to start than it should. What’s interesting is that Macs have always displayed the Apple logo 2 or more times when starting. This is the first time I’ve seen it on an iPhone.

As many of you, I have the same problem and if I can say my opinion, for the price we pay the phone, we have all the rights to receive a perfect product. I don’t know if it’s just a “cosmetic” bug or it also has some kind of consequences on our devices (maybe in the long run, who can say it?) but as it’s been highlighted in the first page of this thread, it’s clearly something NOT EXPECTED and as such, the issue (harmless or not) should be officially addressed by apple and solved. As consumers, we have all the rights to have it solved, since it clearly is something not normal.

I had this same exact issue with my brand new iPhone 12 PRO. I even posted about it in a separate thread and have now "upvoted" this question here. I have since returned the phone and have not purchased another one.

Do we know if this has been addressed by Apple anywhere or if the latest crop of iPhone 12 Pros no longer have this issue? I am waiting to buy one but won't be doing so until Apple addresses this issue or at least acknowledges what the problem is.

Thank you

It is not an issue. It is a minor cosmetic bug. The Apple logo should stay on until the phone starts, about 15-20 seconds. Instead it appears, is blanked out, then appears again.

To start your phone hold the SIDE button until the Apple logo appears, then release it. Wait for the Lock screen to appear. Don’t touch any buttons again until it appears.

Apple logo flashes when the iPhone is forced to boot

Hello, I bought on March 4, 2021 an IPhone 12 256 go on the Apple website.

While I was discovering how the phone works, as I do with all my phones, I tested a hard reset.

volume +, volume - and then Power.

The phone started to reboot, but unlike usual, the apple logo did not appear correctly.

Indeed, the logo appeared as a camera flash, and never appeared again.

It is therefore difficult to know when to release the Power button when restarting since the logo does not appear frankly, leaving a screen desperately black!

I tested several times the problem:

a first time by keeping my finger pressed on the power button, after the logo has flashed, in the hope that it would reappear as it should, but without success.

a second time when I released the power button at the moment when the logo flashed, and there the phone restarted!

I contacted Apple technical support on the chat, the advice was given to me to reset the phone completely, but without success.

I then contacted the technical support by phone (in Canada), a technician assisted me by sharing the screen of my Macbook, for a restoration via the Finder (instead of the old one via Itunes).

But without success!

He advised me to approach the sales department for an exchange.

I continued my research until I found on Youtube, other users of IPhone 12, 12 Pro Max, having had exactly the same problem.

What is going on with this IPhone 12 model?

I'm only 4 days of use and already problems; I have at least the opportunity to return it before the 14 days, but for the others?

Today, March 21, 2021, I'm on my second new IPhone 12. on iOS 14.4.1 version. Indeed, I just received a replacement IPhone.

When I unpacked it, the phone started normally. I purposely did not restore the ICloud backup, in order to check where the problem came from.

Unfortunately, the same Apple logo flashing bug happened again.

personally, I think that even if Apple sent me a container of IPhone 12, the same problem would repeat itself!
