New iPhone 12 Pro. At startup the Apple logo flashes super bright for a brief second then the screen goes dark for about 10 seconds before the Apple Logo re appears at normal brightness to finish the startup. I’ve had iPhones for years and never had the logo turn on and then off during startup. Is that Normal for the 12?

After more than two weeks, I think that it is time to sum up the situation: the "flashing Apple logo" issue described by Blue-per does not occur when we unbox and boot the iPhone 12 (mini)/12 Pro (Max) for the first time, it occurs when the iPhone is already set up.
In most cases the phone performs normally after it boots up. Some users found hardware problems when using their new iPhone (phone needing to be connected to power in order to boot up, screen burn-in, battery charges very slowly, camera not taking HDR photos, etc.).
In my opinion those problems are not related with the flashing logo at startup, because they are very different from each other and they are isolated cases. They are just coincidences.
That does not mean that the flashing logo is not an issue: there are iPhone 12/12 Pro which boots with the (classic) steady Apple logo and some iPhone 12/12 Pro that do not, so it is obviously not a normal thing. It is not a "new feature" or "expected behavior".
After reading other answers on the forum, we can deduce that the issue does not occur on iPhone 12/12 Pro that were shipped with iOS 14.1 or with iOS 14.2 pre-installed, it (mainly) occurs on iPhone 12/12 Pro shipped in January with iOS 14.3 pre-installed. As a matter of fact a lot of people returned the device during the last weeks and got a new one with the same problem.
Now, we suppose (and hope) that the issue is part of iOS 14.3 and not in the hardware of the phone. In this case Apple should be able to fix it with an update, maybe already with a sub-dot-release (iOS 14.4.X) or later with iOS 14.5. There are some comments in favor of that supposition too, where people noticed that issue after updating from iOS 14.2 to iOS 14.3.
On the other hand, it is strange that (most) iPhones who updated the operating system from 14.2 to 14.3 did not experience the issue. And it is even stranger that I read a reply from a user who encountered the problem already on iOS 14.2. Those facts contradict our supposition above, and maybe the flashing logo has nothing to do with iOS 14.3.
I am sure a lot of people have this problem too; they do not notice it, because nowadays we do not shutdown and restart our phones very often. And even if they do that, they (probably) don't keep looking at the boot screen for issues.
It is very hard for us to guess if it is a software or a hardware problem. Only Apple can give us an official answer, and in order to solve the problem as soon as possible I ask you to continue upvoting this and other similar posts (clicking on "I have this question too"), commenting if you have some news from Apple and reporting the case to the Apple Support.
Yeah still same problem maybe bcoz apple just recently realized the problem maybe on the nxt update? I went last time to an apple servce center and they said i need to schedule bfore they accomodate me.
I can confirm problem still exists on my 12 pro after the 14.4 update. Really frustrating as mine doesn’t start up 10 seconds after the apple flash. Seems to be totally random when it starts up again! Very disappointed!
I am experiencing the same problem. Restored iPhone via iTunes (iOS 14.4) and set as new iPhone. The problem is still there. In addition, the phone charges very slowly on the original MagSafe charger, with 20 watts original charging brick. Could this problem be caused by a MagSafe error?
How many of you find that the phone charges very slowly, along with this flashing logo problem? I use Apple's original 20 watt charger along with Apple's original MagSafe brick. It took 15 minutes to charge the phone from 92% to 95%. My wife also has a 12 Pro without the flash issue. It charges super fast on the same charger.

The logo flashes in the start up and goes away for 3 seconds then comes back.
Anything else seems normal to me, I don't know if I should request a replacement
Have returned two times iPhone pro 516GB white due to apple logo flash problem. Waiting for the 3rd one. I think the key question is whether this is a hardware/manufacturing problem or a software issue that can be fixed later. Frustrated.
it is frustrating that we still dont know if it is a hardware issue or a software issue. What is even more frustrating is that replacing it doesnt solve the issue. I just want a normal working, expensive iphone 12 pro max!

I got my iPhone 12 Pro 128 Gb grey today, and started setting it up. Will setting it up via my PC, it wanted to update. When I checked in again, the phone had frozen and my PC had run out of battery.. i wasn’t able to get away from the update screen, so I made a hard restart. That’s when I first notice the flash while turning on the phone, that why I found this forum... While using the phone tonight I noticed that every time I was in a completely white screen, there’a was a picture of the apple logo and an indicator bar in the background... So weird! Hope you can see it on the screenshots. It’s not easy, when your not looking at the actual phone.
I have the same problem as well. I was so depressed as I spent a lot of money on this and the apple logo that flashes super bright for a brief second just ruins the happiness. I hope apple fixes it. Never had any problems or issues with my iPhone X. Kinda miss that phone now. Traded in for this iPhone 12 Pro 256gb Gold.
That’s exactly what happened.... It didn’t move anywhere for about an hour while updating to iOS 14,4. Then I made a hard restart, and that’s when I first come across the famous flash before starting. Later in the evening I noticed this, while looking on a white screen... I’m guessing this isn’t my fault and the guarantee will cover it ?
So your advice, is to not notify them.. But simply return it, and order a new one? I bought though my phone service provider, so i know the drill is to return to one of there shops, and then they have to take in to the service shop, who has to conclude that theres a problem.... I'm worried i'll get a refurbished phone... But have Apple stopped doing this?
Today I got my 4th iPhone 12 Pro MAX at an Apple store in Singapore. Tomorrow I’ll turn it off to see if I have to finally return it and ask for a final refund. Miss Steve Jobs. I’m sure with him this wouldn’t have happened.
I observe that once the apple logo flash and disappear it is already booting up so dont press the power button again because it will bootup. then I tried recovery mode but no connect itunes will appear on phone its just pure black. but itunes is recognizing the phone in recovery mode. I hope apple will fix this because its not normal.
I updated to 14.4 and am seeing the logo flash at startup. I’ve had the phone for less than 24 hours. NOT a happy camper. Blue Pro Max 128. I tried the update because I had terrible reception, dropped calls, no signal. What a lemon.
Yes, you can; however, the recovery splash screen doesn't appear on the phone, even though the Mac recognizes that the phone is in recovery mode (once the cable is connected). And doing a recovery or an update doesn't eliminate the issue, even though it reloads the OS and the firmware.
