New iPhone 12 Pro. At startup the Apple logo flashes super bright for a brief second then the screen goes dark for about 10 seconds before the Apple Logo re appears at normal brightness to finish the startup. I’ve had iPhones for years and never had the logo turn on and then off during startup. Is that Normal for the 12?

After more than two weeks, I think that it is time to sum up the situation: the "flashing Apple logo" issue described by Blue-per does not occur when we unbox and boot the iPhone 12 (mini)/12 Pro (Max) for the first time, it occurs when the iPhone is already set up.
In most cases the phone performs normally after it boots up. Some users found hardware problems when using their new iPhone (phone needing to be connected to power in order to boot up, screen burn-in, battery charges very slowly, camera not taking HDR photos, etc.).
In my opinion those problems are not related with the flashing logo at startup, because they are very different from each other and they are isolated cases. They are just coincidences.
That does not mean that the flashing logo is not an issue: there are iPhone 12/12 Pro which boots with the (classic) steady Apple logo and some iPhone 12/12 Pro that do not, so it is obviously not a normal thing. It is not a "new feature" or "expected behavior".
After reading other answers on the forum, we can deduce that the issue does not occur on iPhone 12/12 Pro that were shipped with iOS 14.1 or with iOS 14.2 pre-installed, it (mainly) occurs on iPhone 12/12 Pro shipped in January with iOS 14.3 pre-installed. As a matter of fact a lot of people returned the device during the last weeks and got a new one with the same problem.
Now, we suppose (and hope) that the issue is part of iOS 14.3 and not in the hardware of the phone. In this case Apple should be able to fix it with an update, maybe already with a sub-dot-release (iOS 14.4.X) or later with iOS 14.5. There are some comments in favor of that supposition too, where people noticed that issue after updating from iOS 14.2 to iOS 14.3.
On the other hand, it is strange that (most) iPhones who updated the operating system from 14.2 to 14.3 did not experience the issue. And it is even stranger that I read a reply from a user who encountered the problem already on iOS 14.2. Those facts contradict our supposition above, and maybe the flashing logo has nothing to do with iOS 14.3.
I am sure a lot of people have this problem too; they do not notice it, because nowadays we do not shutdown and restart our phones very often. And even if they do that, they (probably) don't keep looking at the boot screen for issues.
It is very hard for us to guess if it is a software or a hardware problem. Only Apple can give us an official answer, and in order to solve the problem as soon as possible I ask you to continue upvoting this and other similar posts (clicking on "I have this question too"), commenting if you have some news from Apple and reporting the case to the Apple Support.
Response from Apple call center: If you submit faulty iphone, in any case we will not exchange, you have to wait for sw upgrade. So they pushed me to wait but in any case i submitted faulty iphone to the arab computers in Riyad.
at the end, he couldnt reply my below question, he didnt allow me to discuss with technical engineer for more details
Why same SW is working fine with another iphone 12 pros, but has problem with my iphone pro? For this question still no response.
Mine’s doing this too (12 pro max). Only switch my phone off when I go for a run (run with watch). But turning the phone on isn’t so easy with this problem. Can take minutes as you keep retrying. Hoping it doesn’t ever completely fail to start 😳
Still within the return period for the phone so not sure what to do - return or hope an iOS update fixes.
Same Problem. Brand new iPhone 12 max pro within 14 day return period. Do I need to return this phone for a new one? Will it help? Or do I hold on to this one until Apple provides a fix which seems highly unlikely in the near future ?
Do what you like, but I don't understand why you are so concerned about a cosmetic issue that has zero to do with any of the things presumably you purchased an iPhone to do.
It literally doesn't hurt anything, and for most you will only reboot your phone when there is an iOS update.
Despite what some say, it doesn't make the phone any harder to turn on or affect turning it on (or off) at all.
Even brightness is also the issue.
iphone could have been more brighter if first logo stays there but it vanishes.
just compare your phone’s brightness with other models, even after more nits the screen is more dull 😒
I tried hard to get a device produced before w52 2020 with no luck.
earlier on December 2020 i got one for my wife and its working fine with no flashing issue.
yesterday I noticed the brightness difference between both.
unfortunately it was a setting issue as I mentioned earlier.
You keep saying it is a cosmetic issue but then you don’t work for Apple. The way my phone starts up and their phone starts up deviates from the way every fully functioning iPhone has started up since the iPhone’s inception. Should we not question as to why it does this and will their be any long term issues? Yes, I have my warranty but then I would have to use my time and resources to replace it. I try to avoid buying things that may or may not work in the future because of an issue in the beginning.
I'm in 100% agreement with you. It's not like this is a $15 gadget. It's $1000!!! There should be NO issues and I don't have time to wait several hours in an Apple store for a fix. I'm going to bring mine back and wait a month or so until the new ones come out working right off the bat or I'll wait for the 13.
Actually, it interfered with the way my phone should start up. Would I be wrong if I said the boot process? It took longer or sometimes it wouldn’t turn on at all. I would have to release the power button and press it again. I returned it and am now on an iPhone SE 2020. However that cost me gas and a screen protector and the waste that came along with that protector. So it’s great that you want to help but don’t invalidate the concerns of others by saying it’s just a cosmetic issue.
I m facing the same flashing off my apple logo.Even though I m facing many issues like battery never goes upto 100% even I purchases iphone fast charger 20w from apple store.It stucks to 98%.And when I power off and on the device it automatically shows me 100% charging.Even when I power on the device logo flashes and even though it doesn’t power on.After trying 4/5 times it starts.And starts in just 3sec.By the way I m using iPhone 12 128gb blue varrient. Plz resolve this issue.I even went to apple store and those guys don’t even help me out.They said it’s normal not a major issue. Apple should refund our money or replace our phone with the new one if they can’t resolve this issue.

I believe you bought from apple shop.
Most of the countries has no apple shop. And apple support is zero for refund, exchange or repair in Saudi Arabia.
Arab computer is one of the apple service which dont help any one with this issue.

I now know what the action is that causes this “jump” as I called it to occur. It’s when texting, as I add a response to a comment with the selections of emojis a heart, thumbs up, thumbs down, explanation mark or question mark it phone actually does this weird jump.
