Apple logo flash at startup

New iPhone 12 Pro. At startup the Apple logo flashes super bright for a brief second then the screen goes dark for about 10 seconds before the Apple Logo re appears at normal brightness to finish the startup. I’ve had iPhones for years and never had the logo turn on and then off during startup. Is that Normal for the 12?

There seem to be more reports of this issue over the past few days; as of now, there's no official response from Apple yet, but it's certainly not normal.

For the most part it seems the phone can function normally after it boots up, although in my case it eventually led to the phone needing to be connected to power before it would boot up. I'm waiting to see what Apple says over the next few days.

People are not reading the posts before posting there troubles... most answers are already here.

The issue looks to be part of iOS 14.3 and not in the phones hardware as iOS 14.2.x works fine, so Apple should be able to address it with software. It also does not effect the operation of the phone, only reboot which no one should be rebooting much anyways... since the release of iOS 14.4 went golden last week and is coming out this week before this issue was really noted by Apple... I do not believe the patch/fix for this issue will be in this update so we may may have to wait a bit longer for a sub-dot-release 14.4.x shortly after.

Apple senior support advisor told me directly that they will fix this issue... Apple also has a video I sent them showing this issue happening in a support case they have created on this problem.

I had the same problem with my iPhone 12 Pro Max. iOS 14.3 came pre installed, I exchanged it yesterday. Thankfully my new one came with 14.2 pre installed; I did the update to 14.3 and it’s still fine. The phone is too expensive to have this problem. FYI, you will not be able to put the phone on recovery mode with it being this way. Forget having to restore anything from iTunes.

Btw, I’m on my 3rd iPhone 12 pro max; the first one had signal issues. My 11 pro max was perfect, I should have kept it.

I just hung up with a Support specialist via chat who had me run a diagnostic on my phone, and finding nothing she could fix, had me visit with a sales specialist. That guy told me that because I traded in an old phone, I had to make an appointment to go to a store to exchange. What a hassle. I've only got a few days left, too as it seems I have 14 days upon receipt of the phone to make an exchange.

Just upgraded to iOS 14.4 and if anything the problem has gotten worse. This is my second iPhone 12 Pro after I returned the first believing it was a defective handset but I’m getting the exact same problem.

When I attempt to switch the phone on I get a bright flash of the apple logo and then the screen goes black again. I have to try several times before I’m able to power up the device successfully.

I really hope this is down to software/firmware and apple can fix it ASAP.

I had the exact same issue when I restored my iPhone 12 pro. The phone got stuck and apple logo kept flashing bright at startup and nothing else would work until I had to force restart and restore it again.

Even though phone worked fine after that but on every restart, apple logo briefly flashed at full brightness and few seconds later normal apple logo would appear and phone would start normally.

I did exchange my phone with a new one and never tried to restore data thereafter. Wonder if apple is considering an update to fix this issue? Seems like a software glitch.

I am very happy that I have found this threat.

I bought an iPhone 12 Pro 512GB (white) with serial F2xxxxxxxxxx last week at German Amazon.

On first start everything worked OK. I turned it off to to do restore later on. At the second power on I have seen this strange behaviour. I restarted the iPhone with a "reset" - same strange behaviour.

I did a "recover" and a "DFU recover" with iOS 14.3 and the issues persists.

Today I called the German Apple Support. The support agent searched the knowledge database for this "logo flash issue" -> no hit.

The agent did a remote diagnostic and the diagnostic indicated -> "no issue found"

Therefore that "no issue were found" the agent told me, that a swap of the device isn't possible - I can just send the device in for repair. :-(

The agent recommended that I return the iPhone to Amazon for a refund and buy another one some weeks later...

Currently Amazon is sold-out therefore I have to wait anyway.

I hope that Apple will find the root cause soon!

My Fiancé and I both got the new IPhone 12 Pro and we both are having this exact same problem!!! It’s annoying. I have been both to AT&T and Best Buy Geek Squard (as they are authorized now to diagnose iPhones. They couldn’t find anything wrong with the phones using apples diagnostic program. They also did a full removal of the software and firmware and the problem still exists... they said now we have to go to apple directly. But since everyone is having this issue it must be an IOS problem! Apple please get back to us and fix this problem. A $1100 phone shouldn’t be doing this.
