Mac Pro 2013 + D700 + Samsung Odyssey G9 / LG 49 inch

Hi guys,

Sorry to bug everyone with a topic that has been present once in the past and I hope someone has a more up to date view on it.

I'm planning to buy either the G9 or the LG 49 inch monitor (G9 of course used at 60 Hz refresh and 5120xx1440 resolution) and not sure how it works nowadays with the D700 driver and if I will run into issues.

From what I have been reading in the past people needed to connect 2 x DPs to the monitor and use PIP to get everything running smooth despite 1 x DP 1.2 having enough bandwidth for that resolution and refresh.

Is this still the case today (latest mac osx version/updates) or can I just buy the monitor and use 1 x DP cable to link my Mac Pro to it?

I also installed SwitchResX for the future when I get the monitor in order to see if I can "force" the resolution with just one cable:)

Thank you,

Mihai

Those reports were from folks using 2016 and older MacBook Pro pre-Big Sur with displays wider than 4096 pixels wide.
