PowerBeats Pro shutting down with battery
When using my Powerbeats Pro, the left earpiece shuts down randomly, even if it shows more than 80% battery on my iPhone. This only happens with the left one, the right one works normally.

Hello oscarrdz1977,
Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having trouble with your PowerBeats Pro. It looks like the left earpiece shuts down randomly even though the Beats have more than 80% battery. We're happy to help. Have you tried resetting your Beats? A reset can help with power and other issues.

Cheers!
My right earbud just started doing this as well. It’s disappointing since they had been working fine without issues until this randomly stated happening. Did anyone end up finding a solution? I’ve tried resetting multiple times and it hasn’t fixed it.
There's no solution for this. The buds became unusable, you cannot listen to music because, sometimes, it only takes 3 minutes for the left bud to shut down, sometimes it takes half an hour, sometimes 30 seconds.
I did report it many times, and every time they asked me to bring the buds to an Apple Store. Since there's no Apple Store here, and Apple's only solution is to sell you a new bud, we're doomed.
Here's a new one: I have a friend who actually paid for the extra bud, and guess what? It's now happening to the new one too.
Oh really ? What happened to me is that I contacted them, they I asked to talk to a senior advisor and this senior advisor told me he was able to escalate the issue to the engineer if I call but I wasn’t able to call by phone at that time…
I talked to a “senior advisor” and after sending me to a store to have the earbuds examined, I called her back and she said the request to replace the left earbud for free was rejected and I had to pay $135. What a waste of my time and it is crazy that so many people have this problem. Clearly it is a problem with the product but Apple refuses to take ownership for it.
I’ve been having the same issue for a while but didn’t realize how widespread it was until coming across this page. Have people been raising the issue to a higher level so that the engineers know the firmware needs to be updated? Also, what’s the best way to file a complaint about this? Want to make sure they are actually listening since The Apple support representatives here obviously aren’t reporting this to their superiors. I don’t mean to be rude about it, but it’s really frustrating when so many replies prove it’s a widespread issue that can’t be fixed through the usual troubleshooting methods.

I've been having the same issue with the left earpiece for a few months. I bought my earbuds in June 2019.
Has anyone found out if it is a battery, hardware or firmware issue?
Replacing the battery costs $75 (€97) for out of warranty earbuds according to Apple website.
This has nothing to do with the issue. I never keep apps open in the app switcher and still run into battery drain in the left headphone. I generally just listen to podcasts in Overcast, have a continuous glucose meter and only get about 1.5 hours out of the left side now. Yesterday I put it in the charging case and it was back to 95% in about a minute or so. I’ve also noticed that it dies in less than 30 minutes if you’re in a phone call. my phone usage habits haven’t changed, yet the performance of the one headphone has. Plus, the charging info rarely makes any sense. It’s very obviously inaccurate.
I started having the same issue about a month ago. One bud cuts off when the charging indicator on the phone says it still has about 50% capacity left and the other bud does the same thing with less use. I think this is a manufacturing issue and they’re just choosing to ignore it.
Hello,
I have the same issue. Happening the last few days. The left bud does at 75%. The right works fine. Tried everything. Am on iOS 15.0.1
the left bud also doesn’t connect to the charger as well as the right.. cleaned the buds and the vase thoroughly! Still stuck. Plus I’m in India and Apple doesn’t even retail these here and Out of Warranty! So the support basically sucks here! Loved them and now they’re just paperweight!
I think as more people install the buggy firmware, the problem will eventually become visible to Apple. Right now, I’m sure nobody in a position to do anything even knows there’s problem. Nothing to do but wait.
Haven't updated mine. That is so bad, I thought the new update would finally fix this issue. I also read a post in Reddit that the latest update bricked some of the users' earbuds, preventing them from using it. Oh Well.
Hi
Ive had same problem with my powerbeats pros. Left unit shuts down after about 20 minutes. Have been in touch with support. DONT BOTHER. Apple support used to be helpful and had a set of powerbeats 3 repaired a few times. Mine are just over 2 years old and they dont want to know about this problem.
My suggestion is dont buy Beats they are just not good quality. They are expensive junk that Apple wont back up when clearly product has generic faults.
Thanks for replying
Yes I think there is a reason Apple dont have a specific Beats section in these topics menu as it would fill their databases lol.
I had numerous problems with Powerbeats 3 which they fixed every time but these have been OK apart from well documented connection issues until battery did this.
Apples support with Beats is like they just dont care. Maybe theyre going to write the brand off.
