Apple CarPlay keeps disconnecting (2021)

Wireless CarPlay on my 2021 Hyundai i30 keeps disconnecting at random intervals. In addition to that, it also disconnects at one specific location during my morning commute to work without fail every morning. To me they seem like two different issues, even though they share the same outcome.

The audio unit issuer for Hyundai, Seednav, has already released an update regarding this concern and I have installed it in my car. Unfortunately the issue still remains the same. Recent communications with Seednav have resulted in the blame being pointed towards apple. Is there a fix in the making for this issue?

The latest update from Apple (14.5) has given me enough proof to say that this is mostly an Apple issue rather than the manufacturers. Ever since my phone was updated to 14.5, the dropouts have reduced significantly. I managed to do a 3 hour journey today with maps and spotify running for the entire jorney without any issues.

Although it hasn't completely cured the problem, it seems like we are one step closer to the solution.

You are still obstinately ignoring all of the users whose issues were fixed by their automakers.

I will helpfully quote one for you:

ISSSUE SOLVED

I went to a Hyundai dealership and they did a Nav system update and it completely fixed the issue

Further, you also assume the fix in 15.0.2 is a universal fix for everyone's issues.

Finally you claimed it was the last iOS 14 update that was "at fault" but it was released September 13, 2021 and you are quoting from a post I made in April.

@dcwarpath:

That was a good question and I just went out to my car to do a test (as I indeed did not listen to music or receive any phone calls during my 2 hours trip). It turns out that the audio system needs bluetooth - but only for establishing the initial connection. Once it is connected and CarPlay is active one can just disable bluetooth and music streaming as well as doing phone calls still works.

Curious where you got the engineering codes and if they are the same on all makes/models...

I have a different model and live in a different country, but will 100% be showing your video to the service manager and requesting this "fix" be applied. It's certainly not ideal. My preference is wireless as it allows me to use a speed charger while driving. In the past, I found that normal charge speeds while using maps and streaming music still drains the battery of the phone even when it's plugged in (just slower).

However these constant disconnections are super annoying. So I'd trade a fix for that for battery charging issues any day.

I likely won't hear back from them for a few weeks, but I'll update this forum when I learn if a similar fix works in US on the 2022 Hyundai Palisades.
